Good Experience I visited the place from my office in a group of 25 people . I will try to give the details of the place and the activities in the most detail way as possible Location:. The home stay is located at a distance of 70 Kms from Belur . The roads are in good condition and can be covered easily in 2 hrs from belur . The last 2 kms leading to the Home stay is little narrow and also steep at the same time. Big buses(30 seater ++) cannot cross this road . The home stay guys sent 2 vehicles to pick us up from the main road. As many people have written in their reviews, the owner put us in a place which was 2 kms from the main building . Even this place was decent enough to accommodate 25 people . The building was pretty old, beds were not in a great condition, but manageable . Hot water was not available until afternoon . For all other things like breakfast & lunch we had to go to main building . Only tea/coffee, snacks & dinner was served at our building itself Activities:. We were advised by the owner as well as staff to follow this order to get advantage of all activities:. 1. Breakfast. 2. Temple Visit. 3. View Point. 4. Waterfalls. 5. Lunch. 6. Drop back to our place. In the evening we had a camp fire along with good music . The dinner was served at our place itself Food:. The food served was pretty good and hygiene. They served some authentic food which was very tasty . The snacks and dinner was served on time too So overall the stay was pleasant for us
We travelled with friends and family last weekend to Chikmagalur to relax. We had booked Gattikallu homestay and got confirmation from Gurudev (the owner) through email. However this turned out to be a nightmare. On reaching the place we were given another place named Barekhan Homestay which was a pathetic place to stay for family. The homestay did not have any sign board outside and no one informed us during the time of check in that they were putting us in a different place and not in Gatikallu Homestay. Gurudev is a big fraud and has cheated us. It is not at all a good place for family. Rooms in the 1st floor were not up to the mark, without any doors to secure our valuables. Single beds were placed in the corridors which the homestay people were counting as rooms (see pictures attached). No privacy for people travelling with family. Pillows and blankets were stinking. Common bathrooms were in pathetic condition (see pictures attached). The owner (Gurudev) is very arrogant and his behaviour is not at all professional. I would never recommend anyone travelling with family to stay over here. Rs 2400/- charged per day per head is a utter waste of money on this property.
Good place to visit for trekking and excellent hilltop views. A waterfall too nearby for swimming and relaxing. Service at the resort was good, awesome food and you get an option to trek to 2 hilltops. Do carry a leech repellent near water spots. Rooms at resort are maintained well.
This place is been called as Karimale in sandalwood movies. Truly a place you can have it for memory lane. Away from day to day today hustle, very quiet, calm and moderately chilly place to spend a good time with family and friends. In 'the kanive resort ' as we stayed we truly discovered namma kannada sahyadri. In all terms resort is 'the AWESOME'. After trip, now I can relate to song by Rastrakavi kuvempu, ' ni muttuv nale ade sahyadri'. Any day, I get a chance I will prefer to go their.
This place is breathtaking. Gatikallu Homestay is a 290 km drive from Bangalore. They have tents as well as cottages. When we called to make a booking, we requested for tents, but they were already booked. There were two cottages available. When the four of us reached there, they told us they weren't expecting any more visitors that weekend. They offered both the cottages to us for the price of one. It was great during the bonfire (that they lit at dusk) to have the veranda of both the cottages to run around. They charge INR 2500 per person this includes food (except starters) and activities. Gatikallu Homestay offers a variety of activities, including Rope activities, trekking, bonfire, music, etc. They took us in their vehicle to the trekking points, to the ancient temple and a lovely (pristine, heavenly, hidden-from-view) waterfall and the sunset point. If I may just take a moment here to talk about the scrumptious food. It's superb, homely food. The food is served in a big hall. There's both veg and non veg. Simple, yet delicious food. During dinner, they played some good music too. Before dinner we had ordered some starters the quantity shocked us. They really know how to pamper foodies.
We booked in advance for 4 people On reaching there he said rooms are not available and gave us tree house with common bathroom (pathetic condition). This was unexpected since we didn't even talk about tree house during booking and it was such a pathetic condition with door not getting closed, open window, no wardrobes and no facilities Breakfast : Water with soap was there on plates, we need to wipe that dirty water from plate, breakfast was worst with oil dripping from dosa. (Worst I had in my entire life) Then we were told to go for trekking and then they will be providing us one room Around 3 pm we were back from trekking Lunch : Again plates were full of water with washing detergent particles on it. Very bad food (cold, no taste, too much oil). After lunch they told to wait (we were very tired after overnight journey then trekking), we waited for 30 minutes, then they told no rooms are there We finally settled bill for pathetic service and food, left the place and searched for another home stay which was very good Please don't go here.
I stayed in Ghatikallu Homestay for relaxation purpose. There were very good activities provided like trekking, camp fire and sight-seeing. The location of the homestay was easy to locate and there were people to help. The appearance of the homestay was very well maintained. We went for trekking and they provided one person to help us. The staffs of the homestay were very good. The food of the homestay was very good. The service was done on time. The overall stay at the homestay was very good. The homestay room was well maintained and comfortable and was provided with amenities. The hill view was very good. I will recommend this homestay to other travellers.
It was convenient to locate the hotel and the neighbouring was good. The service of the staffs in the hotel was friendly and helpful. The internal and external appearance of the hotel was good. The check in and checkout was done on time. The room allotted to me was good and it was well maintained with essential amenities in working condition. I ate food in the hotel once and it was good in quality and in taste. There were no activities in the hotel. Overall, I was fulfilled with the stay and it was value for money. I will recommend this hotel to other travellers.
The overall experience was good. The hotel was conveniently located. It is not a hotel but a home stay. The staff behaviour was friendly and helpful. The rooms were well maintained and good. There was only a geyser in the room other than that no amenities were there. The quality of the food provided was good. There was no delay in check-in and check-out. There were good activities in the hotel. The services provided were good and quick. There was no view from the room. The hotel can be recommend to other travellers.
I stayed at Ghatikallu Star class homestay for 3 nights 4 days along with my family for dasara vacation. Located approximately at 20-25kms from Mudigere on the way to Hornadu. The best home stay I have ever been to and easily recommend friends and relative to choose as an holiday destination. One of the best ambience, tastefully decorated and neatly maintained. The food is excellent and they provide local flavors. The staff were very co-operative and courteous. Once you reach there they will attach one Maruthi Gipsy along with a guide and he will take you through the list of predetermined activities. They take you to places which not explored by many such as Balalarayan durga, Highest peak, Water falls, Hemavathi River ugama sthala in reserve forest, Natural swimming pool in there estate in the form of flowing Hemavathi river, tour across tea and coffee estate, Malaya Marutha at the beginning of Charmadi ghats. They have four types of home stay- Regular, Antique, Club class and Star class. My review is for only STAR Class. Am sure visitors will definitely enjoy and cherish there stay.
