Padmini took Bath here

Wonderful place with a great history. There is a tunnel almost a mile long from main palace to the pond. Womenfolk used to walk through the tunnel to go for Bath and back. The tunnel is now closed due to landslide and snakes etc. The view is still good and pond is alive with water. The lord shiva temple around it is still in use with regular prayers in the morning and evening. Locals still visit it. The Vijay Stamp (Victory Tower) is a wonderful tower with 9 stories and in a typical dumbbell shape, just like damroo of Lord Shiva. You have a wonderful view of the fort from this point.

Water falling from a sculpted rock shaped like a Cow mouth

Water falling from a sculpted rock shaped like a cow mouth, which is running from a natural spring, on the Shivling or the symbolic Idol of Lord Shiva, which is reserved in a large tank known as Gaumukh Reservoir, which is considered a sacred place and people and many sage come to have a bath as a ritual in this Holy tank. This water tank or pool remains the main source of water during various siege of the fort. As the Fort was known as a water fort due to its water bodies in the form of tank, ponds and step-wells. This Gaumukh Reservoir also seems to be a step-well built quite below the Tanks situated in the fort to have a continuous seepage as the tanks are natural catchment of rainwater. It has various construction work in the massive stones, as shaped in a temple form slab is resting on beautiful carved columns and stone masoned walls, besides the steps one may follow the front fortress wall via Samidheshwar's Temple, and have pavilions. It is situated close to the cliff and next to Samadheshwar's Temple via Victory tower.Steps are having high risers so while getting down one must be very cautious as they have become slippery, as these steps lead to the Gaumukh and one may have the beautiful look from this place of reservoir. People take the feed for Fishes which comes to the visible level inside the water to have the feed. Camera is essential and other baggages one must not keep with them. It is a very popular attraction.

Scenic place on Chittorgarh

It's a unique place on Fort Chittaurgarh. The water and the cool eye soothing view of large pond relieves you of the stress of walking along the fort. Sit on the bank for a moment with closed eyes and you will feel to be entered in another world.

Go for the view!

Its basically a pool of water, but the view during the sunset is mesmerizing. The pool at an elevated height provides a perfect setting for the sunrise and is very peaceful since its not very crowded.
