Govardhan Hill takes you back to era

August is awesome month to visit Brij. First showers of monsoon decorates Vrindaban and adjacent places with eternal beauty, I reached Govardhan in morning, though light showers were their but they added pleasure. Firstly I reached Govardhan Temple for darshan and enjoyed hot milk and pure ghevar of Brijwasi, so I could get energy for 21km parikrama of holy Govardhan parvat which was raised by Lord Krishna on his fingers to save natives from anger of Indra. So if you visit Vrindaban don't miss the opportunity to visit Govardhan Hill.

Very sacred parikrama

Govardhan Hill Parikrama is considered as one the ways to pay your respect to Lord Krishna. Usually people go along this 21km long parikrama on bare foot. Would take around 6-7 hours if you do it slowly without burning out yourself with the body pace.NOTE: I would strictly not recommend this trip to those people who can't walk continuously for such long stretches PLUS there is absolutely nothing to eat or drink during some stretches along this parikrama. So always have a companion along with you during this sacred walking and try to eat and drink continuously when you find vendor along the parikrama.Best season to do the parikrama is the later half of the monsoon season and before the onset of harsh winters, ie in the months of September, October, November and February - March. Do not ever try to do this parikrama in the hottest months of April to July.UP Tourism should look after developing some toilet facilities too as there are hardly any along the route. Monkeys are a common site along the route so never try to eat when you see a monkey in front of you because it might get you injured as it may try to snatch away the food item from you.6. You will see many small temples and Kundas like Shyam Kunda and Radha kunda along the parikrama route which have their own mythological importance.7. Overall the trip is very soothing, offers a deep sense of peace into you. Nowadays for those people who can't walk around the Govardhan hill there is provision that they are allowed to travel in their cars.
