Gulab Bagh Overview

Ranked 36 of 184 sightseeing in Udaipur

Gulab Bagh derives its name from its abundance of rose species. Often referred to as Sajjan Niwas Garden, it was built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in the 1850s. Spread over an area of 0.40 sq km, it is the largest garden in Udaipur. Situated in the south-east of the City Palace complex, the garden also encompasses a museum, originally known as Victoria Hall Museum.

In the museum are housed antiques, curios, royal household items and other relics from the past. Within the garden, at a short walk away through rose plants and open parks, a zoo is situated.

Constructed by Maharana Fateh Singh, Saraswati Bhawan Library is also located within the precincts of the garden. Books related to history, archaeology, ideology and several manuscripts that date back to the early mediaeval period are housed in the library.

Toy train, not only for kids but also for elders

This garden is well-maintained. Toy train will take you to entire garden. Train driver itself is conductor / TC. Some part of garden was under maintenance. Garden size is very big. You can easily find Peacock in Udaipur.

Full of nature

This has a small astrological garden which has plants as per zodiac sign wherein people come and take a jog or sit near their trees doing yoga and meditation. Visit to Navlakha in this park is worth a visit. One can enjoy glass of natural vegetable juice and also a train ride. It is enjoyable visit and one must come here to enjoy nature.

Enjoy train ride in Gulab Vatika

Gulab Bagh has a lot of collection of roses. Nice area to roam around and you can enjoy ride in small train which runs at such a slow pace that you can even get down while running.

Large in size and perfect for chilling out

The garden is very large in size and perfect for chilling out. It has a toy train facility which allows you to travel round the park. It's fun and enriching. There is also a wildlife sanctuary inside but with very less animals, just a few monkeys and deers. Rest the park is good for early morning or late evening jogs.

Great Garden

Nice garden, in the heart of the city. Good to have a morning walk. It has a small zoo. Attraction for children. Not a mandatory place but good to spare 20 mins to view the garden.

Nice garden, Good walk in the morning

The Gulab bagh is in Sanjay nivas park which is in the city itself. In the park complex area a hanuman temple is also functioning. Lot of people come here for darshan. A nice garden area and a morning walk spot for all categories of people. At the time of my visit the Rose garden was incomplete The roses have not bloomed.

One of the best garden of my life

It is one of my favourite places. When we entered the Gulab Bagh, we thought it would be just another garden but when we saw a train coming from dense forest like and disappeared again in garden, it was one the best garden I have ever seen in my life.

Toy train Ride at Gulab Bagh

This is spread in a large area and requires considerable time. For a one/two day visitor to Udaipur, this can be skipped as compared to other attractions in Udaipur
