For all the long travel with 77yr old mother, we were not even allowed a minute of darshan of the Go

Had taken my mother who is 77 who likes visiting temples only ... From Bangalore. We halted in Coimbatore and then took the next day travel to Guruvayur. Rested the afternoon and went to temple at 6pm. It was a queue sitting for more than a hour and when they allowed it was just a rush asking the devotees to move (it closes at 8pm). And there was a stairs to the left which served no purpose all had to climb and get down ... And the waiting devotees don't follow any queue so it was difficult for mother but only consolation was she visited the temple saw the God for less than a minute ... Special darshan was too expensive at 4500 / ... I don't know if it s the usual practice but they don't give the sandal paste unless some dakshina (money)is given. Overall I felt disappointed ... Temple itself is ancient But if there were proper system it would be so good like continuously allow devotees to move in a medium pace, keeping a little distance from each other (as men aren't allowed to wear shirts). This was my experience ... What to do after travelling so much for an elderly lady I felt sad ...

A famous temple

It is a religious destination. The guruvayoorappan temple where Lord Krishna is the deity is famous in South India. The temple is usually crowded on weekends, holidays and all auspicious occasions.

A must visit temple restricted only to Hindu devotees

The temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is very well maintained, be it cleanliness, security, peaceful atmosphere and the elephants performing religious rituals. The temple is also very well connected by road and pretty decent lodges are available around the temple at reasonable rates.I visited with my family in the mid of August and the weather was pleasant. The Male devotees are required to wear only a dhoti for the lower and a scarf for the upper body to enter inside the temple. Any decent dress for women would do.The best time to visit the temple would be early morning at 6am and you can be a part of the aarti and the parikrama performed by the holy elephant. Though there could be a long queue at this time for the obvious reason, but its worth the experience.

Religious place to visit

Lord Krishna Temple, Guruvayur, Kerala is one of the most precious and beautiful temples in South India, Kerala. It's well connected with Cochin by road and train. Very good stay around temple. Elephants maintained by the temple. Most of the people feel auspicious to have first meal for children and in wedding season we can see too many new couples getting marriage here.

Memorable experience

As a Hindu one should have the Darshan of Lord Sri Krishna. Our people had the Darshan of sanctum sanctorum twice i. e. On 11th evening and 12th morning of February 2016. We also enjoyed the sight of around 100 magnificent Elephants at Elephant Fort. This is a memorable experience to all the members of our team.

A holy place to visit for the darshan of the Lord Krishna

The police and security arrangements were good, effective and courteous. The locker facility to lodge the cell phone, camera etc may be very near the entrance or a conspicuous board in big letters in local, English and Hindi may be displayed at the entrance of the Queue forming area.Tulabharam: Timings should be continuous without break.Questions raised through E-Mails by the devotees on availability of the items offered in Tulabharam, are not answered-may be looked into..

A must visit

Only Hindus are allowed inside this Narayana Temple with good ancient architecture, disciplined arrangements and peaceful ambiance. Various rituals can be performed as per one's desire to meet the needs. Ladies only and Sabarimala devotees have separate ques. Senior Citizens also have separate queues at specified timings. Others are common ques but an area for improvement is organizing the entry as per the first come first served. Informing the devotees about any delay for darshan and water supply to the devotees standing on line needs to be improved. A must visit for all.

A combination of history and divinity

I have been here for a number of times, and everytime I go there I feel I am new to this temple. It provides a fresh and divine atmosphere inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple complex. Inside the temple there is a special clock-room for keeping both mobile phone and luggages including the foot wears. Temple provides lunch everyday as prasadam. Any help for the pilgrims are provided by the temple information centre. One has to go for seeking the darshan at the early morning time at around 3 am for seeing the "nirmalyam".
