Hazratganj Market Overview

Ranked 4 of 162 sightseeing in Lucknow

Hazratganj Market was established in 1810 by Nawab Saadat Ali Khan, who had acquired the throne with the help of the British in January 1798. Named after Hazrat Ali, the fourth caliph, the market has several lanes that were frequented by lovers of music, perfumes and poetry. The market was a favourite among British officials, Nawabs, and zamindars for leisurely walks.

Called Queen's Way by the British, it is a busy shopping area, where most of the bazaars of Lucknow are located. Known as the 'Park Avenue' of the city, its royal street leads to the state capital's heritage zone, known as Shiraz-e-Hind. This has been named after the city of Iran.

Huge market area inside a lane

If you cross the road from the cathedral, the market starts. But both side metro work was going on with heavy machines all over. Still the shops were open and through narrow mud pathway customers were going around shopping. If you just enter a lane, there is a huge number of shops inside. Plenty of bikes parked on either side. Shops and food courts are common. They have maintained something like a park at the entrance. It is a long walk. The road was broad. Since police vehicles were passing through for VVIP's protection, I was stopped by the police for 15 minutes. Went to Moti Mahala and had chat and aloo tikki. Nice experience . Got into a cycle rickshaw to hotel landed in Sewa chikan.

Not up to the mark

Market is just okay! No new updates, neither cultural or heritage shops, and no unique items. Same old fashioned and mall culture like everywhere. TOO COSTLY ITEMS.Instead I would suggest chowk market which has traditional food and drinks with cultural hsritage and clothing.

Good market for shopping

It's a good market to buy anything. Looks beautiful in day and night also. A cinema hall in Hazratganj and a very big parking area. All kinds of clothes and daily use products are easy to buy in this market.

Heart of Lucknow city

Heart of Lucknow is Hazratganj, not for bargain shoppers, but for connoisseurs. Royal cafe is famous for basket chat and other delicacies. Beau. Tifully decorated road with nice pavements. You can stay for as long as you like -a never boring place.
