High Court Overview

Ranked 37 of 769 sightseeing in Mumbai
High Court in Mumbai is not only one of the oldest high courts but also one of the most distinguished ones in the country.
Inaugurated on 14th August 1862, this high court was designed by Col. J.A. Fuller and built in Gothic architecture. The two octagonal towers add beauty to the building making it one of the most photographed buildings in Mumbai. At the top of this building, the statues of Mercy and Justice are placed.
The states of Maharashtra and Goa, Union Territories of Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli come under the jurisdiction of this high court.
Although the name of the city was changed from Bombay to Mumbai, the court remained as Bombay High Court.
As the Bombay High Court is situated in the heart of the Mumbai city, you can reach this place by bus, cab or even walking. The Oval Maidan Cricket Ground, Flora Fountain, and the prime shopping destination, Fashion Street, are at walking distances from the court.
The Bombay high court is included in MTDC heritage walks where tourists can visit the court.

Old building looks beautiful

This is a place where many verdicts were given in the past. Very nice, old building to see. Well maintained, even now. This is on main road and easily accessible to people by any transport. Beautiful and old to visit as a tourist place.

Great architecture

Bombay High Court is known for its architecture. This grand Gothic structure was built decades back, but continues to amaze people. Stop by here and take a walk around to feel one of the busiest areas of the city. Try the super cheap sandwiches from the street food joints from the opposite lane, they are amazing!

Not a bad experience!

This is one court which has been featured in maximum Bollywood movies; therefore, I really wanted to visit this place. We were actually crossing this place when I asked our Taxi driver to halt just there. We stopped there for around fifteen minutes where we had a cup of tea from the nearby tea stall. Generally this place is crowded.
