Interiors are good; needs improvement in reception

Posted 27 May, 2015

Hotel Hamilton has the advantages of a great location, informal ambience and comfortable non hurried pace. The ethnic decor vibes well with the soothing and calm environment and barring the rush hours, it's quite a peaceful place to be in The pros : The rooms are plush and well appointed with fairly large open spaces and with balconies in many rooms. The teak panelling and mahogany wood work gives the interiors a very colonial look. All this is enhanced with various pieces of art ranging from stone to wood to glass that add interesting little touches to the corridors and passages. On every visit even a repeat guest like me discovered something new and endearing in some corner ( last time it was a Grandfather Clock mounted on a tall stand). Proximity to the market area, a plush club in the vicinity, wine shop next door and easy availability of transport and the Delhi metro close by are factors that work very well for Hamilton The cons : Washrooms in some of the rooms need immediate renovation. The slow and laid back attitude of reception staff can be jarring at times. The card swipe machine keeps conking off often. The exteriors need drastic sprucing up. While the interiors are fairly okay after one enters the property, but the shabby facade and ramshackle grills and gates do not look inviting for visitors of house guests.

Convenient location and well-behaved staff

Posted 26 Dec, 2014

I preferred my food inside the hotel and it was tasty. Price wise, the food was reasonable. Nothing was available in activities like swimming pool, etc. Outer and inner look of the hotel was nice and it was modern style look. Behaviour of the staff members was fine. I had no problem during check-in and check-out facility. Location of the hotel was convenient and I faced no problem to find this hotel. My overall experience there was okay and I stayed there one-two days. I visited there by own car for official purpose. Room was spacious and tidy and it was equipped with AC, etc and they all were in working condition. Staff of the hotel was cleaning the room daily. Any scenic view was not available from the room window. This is a recommendable hotel for others travellers.

Good ambiance but service was average

Posted 16 Jan, 2015

Ambiance of the hotel was good. I went there for official purpose in 2014. Location of the hotel was convenient and near about 5 minutes distance from the Metro station. Locality was fine. Servicing staff was average. I remember an incident in this hotel, they served me with pickle and to the extent of my irritation there was a piece of chapathi in there which made me believe that they served this pickle to some other customer as well. I did not like the quality of the food. Price of the food was okay. Many varieties were available there in food. First aid facility was also not available there. They charged 700-800 rupees for one day but basic first aid was not available. Check-in and check-out facility was smoothly done. I stayed there for three days but two day AC was not functioning. TV and other amenities were in working condition. Bed sheet, wash room and other furnishing were in clean condition. No special view was visible from my room. Room service was okay only. I do not know about the hot and cold water facility. Swimming pool and other relaxation activities were not available there. Travel desk facility was not available there. Money spend there was okay. I will not recommend this hotel to other travellers because my overall, experience there was bad. They should make arrangement of first aid box. Appearance of the hotel was attractive. New Delhi as a destination place is nice. Overall, services were below average.

Reasonable hotel and good food

Posted 16 Dec, 2014

I had been there for an official purpose. The overall experience was excellent. The interior was antique. They provided twenty four hours kitchen service. There was no delay in check-in and check-out procedure. The room was spacious and well maintained. They provide WiFi connection in the hotel. They provide both veg and non veg food and it was reasonable. The quality and variety of the food was tasty and delicious. I had not enough time to notice extra activity as I was busy in office work. The staff was amicable and warm. The location of the hotel was convenient. I have no suggestion as I satisfied with the service of the hotel. It was valued for the money.

Cozy rooms, good services and delicious food

Posted 26 Oct, 2015

It is a decent hotel and location is good. Two historical places and many good places at only 20 min distance. Rooms are cozy, spacious and provide a comfortable stay. They are very attentive about cleanliness from front door to the washrooms. The staff is passionate and decent. Last but not the least, a very delicious breakfast as paneer paratha or sabji puri and excellent coffee.
