Travellers from Bengaluru to Srirangapatna can easily board a bus from Bengaluru main Bus Terminus. (That point is popularly known as Majestic Bus Stop). There, you can can get transitory bus service to another Bus Stop on Mysore Road, which is about 10 kms from this Majestic Bus Stand. From there, buses go to Mysore"(Mysuru). A/c buses, comfortable express buses are available. You can board the bus and take ticket to Srirangapatna itself. It is 16 km behind Mysore. After two and a half hour journey, you can get down at your desired destination. After sightseeing for about 5-6 hours, you can proceed to Mysore by catching city buses or return to Bengaluru.

Even trains are available. And, the central Railway Station is just opposite to Majestic bus stand. There is station at Srirangapatna also. But, instead of waiting for the train, and moving a long distance from R. Station to visiting spots, taking the risk of inconvenient travel, it is better to travel by bus.

A/c buses have TV. Express buses do not have. Wifi is also present in A/C buses. A/c buses are quite comfortable

The travel from Bangalore to Mysore is like any other city traffic. Its crowded and conjusted and if you happen to travel on Sunday afternoon. Good luck to you. It takes 5 hours to reach Bangalore. The only solace is that there are lot of eating joints on the way providing sumptuous and tasty food.

I traveled at night. So could avoid the Mysore road traffic. Just hate all the speed breakers. Lot of places to visit on this route. When driving/riding be careful of speed breakers and drive slow at all intersections. People, animals might come in front of the car and surprise you. So be very careful!

There are plenty of good places to have breakfast. We had our breakfast and boarded. The driver and conductor did not have breakfast and stopped at a highly smelly place. Otherwise it was scenic. The railway tract comes along for some distance reminding Darjeeling. Huge statues of Gods seen from the road. Hugh lawns of college campuses are worth for bus travel. You don't get to see them if you go by car.

On one side the river is flowing. Though there is stagnant water nearby the bank, there is flowing water few feet away. Rocks are there to take you there. I was there along with all our friends and their families for a picnic. The dinner at the lawns of amphitheatre was good. They had arranged...more »
