Good journey during the off season

So we planned for a quick trip to Vaishnodevi this month and as expected train tickets were not available. As I didn't want to wait for tatkal, I chose IRCTC 2N, 3D package which includes stay at Country Inn and both side journey through Rajdhani train. Trip was fine and we had a good time as it was off-season there. Only thing I didn't like about this package was the non-AC bus provided for transfer between Jammu and Katra. Bus was in pathetic condition and support staff in bus was not supportive. For any complaint, he had just one answer, that he is just a servant and we should talk to IRCTC or hotel manager. Rest all arrangements were fine and satisfactory. April is good month to visit Vaishnodevi, as it's off season with lesser number of visitors. Weather was fine as well.

A good expereince

If you want to travel by train then book ticket earlier as you may be in problem to get ticket confirmed. Train departs at right time and also arrives at right time. There is no stoppage between the destination. You will have view of mountain, hill in early morning and these views are amazing.

Car travel to Katra

Wasn't all that bad but it is advisable to go to Katra by train or by air. Heard there are a couple of trains that reach Katra direct. At least I will do the same next time. Can't say much about the bus travel though. Think would be worse than travelling in a car. At least one can stop and start wherever and whenever he feels like.
