Train journey is always comfortable when you do prior bookings. Our journey was overall a nice experience. It's very short journey. Mumbai to Igatpuri only 1.30 - 2 hours duration. After Igatpuri we hired cab for Bhandardhara. Maharashtra govt ST bus also available.

My journey to Bhandardara with my wife is too great and with my friends is too adventurous. Start from Kalyan at around 8 am and took the Mumbai Nashik Highway via NH-3 to reach Bhandardara by 12.00 noon. Travel cost is affordable 1500 Rs of diesel and stay in sightseeing cost around 2500. By train your total expenditure will be round 2500. Guys go and enjoy the trip. It is the best, romantic, relaxing and adventurous trip.

his was in the month of May a year ago. We left at noon to go to Bhandardara. The drive to Bhandardara was awfully long and we lost our way as we'd followed the Google map which wasn't updated or for that matter was weird.

After driving through Kalyan and outskirts of Murbad we were guided through lots of small villages where no one had heard of any place by this name. There didn't seem a sign board either but we kept following the map. By 4 pm we realized it wasn't the route, though we continued the drive now all adventurous to explore and a stray person or two out of the dozens seemed to have heard of it. We reached a small town called Akole very late in the evening and were too lost and exhausted to explore any further.

Tried looking for accommodations around but there wasn't a decent place worth accommodating 3 families including a senior citizen. Exhausted, hungry and very sleepy we lost all hopes. Suddenly my husband spotted a group of men and approached them for advice. We were very lucky to find a man who knew a government bungalow and escorted us there cautioning us not to speak to anyone on the way. I don't know why he said that but after all permissions obtained, we heaved a sigh of relief. We also managed to find a Dhaba where we got very good food and service.

The best part of this was next morning we woke up to a beautiful environment and a bunch of kids (laborsí kids who were living in the vicinity). They played a lot with our daughters. When we parted ways we gifted them some food stuff that we were carrying and guess what, they gave our girlís some biscuit packs too! It was a touching experience.

We drove off to Bhandardara which was about half an hour away!

The stay at Bhandardara was awesome at Yash Resorts where we got cozy environment and homely meals cooked as per our choice. It was still a less explored place and we returned via the NH-3.

The travel from Igatpuri to Bhandardhara was a pain. The frequency of buses is poor. The shared taxis fill people into the taxis like anything. You can feel the excruciating pain after some time when you get into the jam packed taxi. The state roadways bus is less crowded and the journey better compared to the shared taxi. The road was full of potholes and it was a bumpy ride at times. From Igatpuri it was only 45 minutes, so we didnít halt at any place.

The journey was overall nice and the highway to Nashik makes it easy. From Ghoti we took a right and the roads from there is a bit bad but then the scenery is worth the trouble of dodging the potholes. The farms and hillside are something which was very romantic and will like to live in the farms and have the streams and small rock dams for the water to flow through which is really beautiful and loved the experience. It was a must visit atleast once in your lifetime.
