Hpca Stadium Overview

Ranked 6 of 54 sightseeing in Dharamshala

What would it be like to watch an exciting match of cricket from a stadium at an elevation of 4110 feet? Prided as the “most attractive ground in India” the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association is also one of the highest international ground in the world.

Surrounded by the snow-capped peaks, soared by vultures and eagles nearby, and the cool freshness of the air, Dharamshala is known to be the perfect gateway to the mountains. This stadium was built in the year 2003 with a capacity of 25000 spectators. As a matter of fact, the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile resides here and the Dalai Lama is also said to have witnessed some of the IPL matches. The first one-day international match was played here in 2013. This venue is also the first of its kind in India to use ryegrass around the outfield.

The nearest airport is in Chandigarh, 250 kilometres away by road and the terrain is hilly. With a stunning backdrop of the Dhauladar Mountains and several snow-capped Himalayan ranges, one cannot have enough of both the scenic beauty and cricket, of course! It is, therefore, rightly said that if God played cricket, it would probably be here!

Fun hi fun

It was a very good experience. Fortunately there was a match between M. P. S and Bollywood actors. We got free passes for match. We spend good time there. There is nothing allowed except Mobile. Even, Ladies can not carry things in their Bags/purse. Water bottles are not allowed in stadium. So, Keep your things in your car.

Scenic stadium

HPCA, the stadium which is situated on an highest altitude in entire world provides a very scenic views of the mountains in the background. The breeze is cold and the stadium is well maintained under Himachal cricket association. Entry is free in the stadium and is the famous attraction among the tourists. Stands are small as compared to any other stadium. Ground is also not that huge but players can definitely be seen easily on this ground during a cricket match. Easy to reach it's in Dharamshala.

Established right on a mountain

The stadium is established right on a mountain. It is surrounded by snow covered mountains (in the month of April) on one side and beautiful clouds on the other. The stadium is a must visit spot and is ideal for photography. There's nothing much to do there though.

The most beautiful stadium I've ever seen

It's very colourful, surrounded by mountains, built on some Tibetan architecture. Would be very nice to watch a cricket match. Only one stand is open for the public for no match day.
