Cochin, The Queen of Arabian Sea

There are many important historical places to visit in Cochin. Fort Cochin, Mattanchery, Jew Street, Chinese Fishing Nets, Dutch Fort, Synagogue, etc. Are worth to visit.

Well-maintained naval museum

A beautifully maintained museum of the Indian navy with many impeccably maintained models of warships and a few displays of weaponry removed from decommissioned vessels as well. This is a small museum, very much worth a visit.

Museum needs more attention

The first thing I wondered after seeing the place is how come Indian Navy is only about this much. Though it has a fair collection, I almost felt that somebody set this place up as an afterthought. As if there were some rusting sundry hardware lying at the back of some naval warehouse, which they decided to prop up in the backyard of a naval housing colony and called it a museum. I shudder to think if the modern India Navy is only about some condemned ironware from the 60s the 70s. Such a place needs to showcase much more to be in the reckoning as a tourist spot and to instill pride in our countrymen. It seems to have been forgotten by our Navy after opening.
