Iruppu Falls Overview

Ranked 5 of 42 sightseeing in Coorg

Iruppu Falls is a fresh water cascade, which is located in Coorg district of Karnataka. This fall originates from the Lakshmana Tirtha River, which is the tributary of Cauvery River. Owing to this, the fall is renowned as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls. From these falls, visitors can reach Brahmagiri Peak, following a forest trial.

Near these falls, visitors can find the famous Rameshwara Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is situated on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River and attracts pilgrims during the festival of Shivaratri. As per the Hindu mythological belief, Lord Rama and Lakshmana passed along the Brahmagiri range in search of Lord Rama's wife, Sita.

Lakshmana shot an arrow into the Brahmagiri hills, when Lord Rama asked him to fetch some drinking water. His arrow brought into being the Lakshmana Tirtha River. Since then, these falls are believed to cleanse sins of devotees, if visited on Shivaratri. During the monsoon season the fall has high flow of water and offers a beautiful sight. This time is considered ideal time for visiting the Iruppu Fall.

Better place for refreshing your mind from fast city life

You can went to the heart of the nature and also refresh your body and mind by bathing in the waterfalls. You can experience the beginning of a river from midst of forest. You can also enjoy soul of jungle from the nearby tholpetty wildlife santuary. Its better to visit weekdays because of rush in weekends. I will give 5 stars for this destination.

Good waterfall with nice surroundings on the way to it

The trek towards the waterfall is very good. You get to see an excellent stream flowing with neat and clear water on the way. The wood logs and stones on the stream make it even more beautiful. Have a look at the pics i've uploaded. The waterfall is good with good height. The best part is you can get under it, even though the water is too cool. Best place to visit with friends and family alike. I've seen families entering the waterfall too :)

Pristine white falls

The scenic water falls roaring down with all its might from Hanuman Betta is a sight for the eyes and the weary City Traveller. One needs to trek around two kilometers which passes through thick forest and one needs to experience it personally. And On the way one can come across small rivulets and streams. The height of the fall is around 45'. The force with which the water falls is a sight to behold. There are bathing facilities under the falls comfortably and experience its pristine purity and cleanliness. The Bath refreshes the body and soul.

Amazing waterfall

This wonderful falls also has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at the entrance. The walk to the falls is around 2 - 2. 5 km and is very energizing. It involves climbing steps to the waterfall and there is dense jungle on either side of the steps. You can even spot monkeys through the trees. They say the forest houses elephants and panthers as well. But the climb to the falls is worth it. You can actually get inside the falls and get drenched to your heart's content and re-live your childhood days. There is a canteen outside the premises which serves authentic Kodagu meal. There is also entry fees for the falls at the gate. Changing rooms are available in case you decide to get drenched.

One of the best

One of the best falls to visit in Coorg. Clean and neatly maintained. Short hike from the parking lot to reach the falls. Well-developed, Kudos to the forest dept.

Amazing place to visit

It was fun visiting this place and the waterfalls are really superb. You must get wet in the water flowing from above at least once if you happen to visit this place.

Good Falls

Iruppu Falls just 7 kms away was great, joyful and enjoyed a lot by bathing in the falls. Down the falls, there is a small place which was great to take photographs.

Feels like in the laps of nature

This waterfall approximately eighty kilometres from Coorg. It is one of the best waterfalls I have ever seen. A perfect hangout place family and friends. There is about 750 metres of picturesque trek which leads to this amazing waterfall with full bathing arrangements. I would advice to carry extra set of clothes and a towel if you are planning to visit here.

Fantastic gushing milky water falls

We had stayed in a resort close to this waterfall and our first visit around Madikeri. This falls was gushing with water as we had been there in a rainy season and crowd was nothing less even in that season.A flight of steps (roughly made, could be improved) lead to this natures beauty. The water was very cold and spraying all around making it difficult to stay longer and take photographs. There is a small bridge/deck to stand and get a direct view/take photos. One notable thing is, though there is security around, you won't find any shelter to stand for sometime to avoid rain; once you are on the steps walking you get cover only near the shops (where you park your vehicles). There are plenty of shops to buy food/drinks but care for what you buy/eat. Even today I feel the gushing milky falls.

Beautiful Falls - Very peaceful

The falls are a little far, it is situated at around 80+ km from Madikeri. The journey on road is very scenic. After buying tickets, there's a 1 km forest trail leading up to the falls. It may be far but you will return with a lot of memories. Not a lot of waterfalls are present where they allow you to go into water, here they let you go. The water will be freezing, but its worth the experience and the place is not overcrowded.
