Jal Mahal Overview

Ranked 17 of 281 sightseeing in Jaipur

Jal Mahal was built during the 18th century in the middle of Mansarovar Lake. This is one of the biggest artificial lakes in Jaipur, which was constructed using red sandstone. It is a five-storey structure built in Mughal and Rajasthani architectural styles. The Jal Mahal was constructed by Sawai Madho Singh for serving the purpose of a summer resort for his family and guests.

During the monsoon season, four out of the five floors of this palace remains submerged under the water due to heavy rainfall. Currently, the Jal Mahal is under renovation for repairing and preserving the beauty of the roof garden. Travellers can spot a large number of migratory and native birds near this lake.

Looks good from far

It's nice to see a Hal built in middle of a lake. Am sure lots of efforts must have gone in building this. Unfortunately we cannot see this from close proximity so cannot really appreciate it's work. Sad part lake is not maintained and looks quite dirty.

You can see filth all round this place and wonder how come Govt can neglect such a place which could be a very wonderful attraction for a evening stroll for tourists.

Cool

The famous Jail Mahala is located in the artificila lake on the way to amer. People come here during moonsoons and winters. The banks of the Jail Mahala has many hawkers who kind of trouble the visitors. There are camesl for rides and small **** bit food items to relish. Though the place a bit dirty and needs regular cleanliness.

Its good to visit there atleast once.

You are not allowed to go inside, no boating allowed only sight seeing from the main, road. And there is small park, which is not very clean. People must take care while eating and feeding the fishes, people must care of cleanliness near the lake area.
