Exhilarating

We were a little skeptical about the place when we entered. But what followed in the next 3 hours left us spell bound. First was the beautiful rendition of Katahkali by a group of devoted artists who perform for arts sake. The entire troupe brought out the full emotions associated with the story. No wonder this art form is revered throughout the world . Next was Kalari performed with life threatening acts by skilled artists. We have never witnessed anything like this before. Must see attraction.

Traditional art

This is a art belongs to Kerala. Really a nice place. Everyone should visit this place. This is a life saving art and really they teaches us how to save life anyone and self. First I was not thinking to see this art but when my wife told me then decided to see this. After seeing I realise if I missed this I really lost one important thing in Kerala. Really appreciate people who learn this art.

Traditional art form

The place is a must visit for those who are interested in understanding and appreciating the traditional and dying art form. These have handed down to us by our forefathers who used these art forms as a form to highlight the cultural tradition of the State and bring the people together. We watched the Kathakali performance by artists for an hour and the way the performance was synchronised by all the artists including the singer, the stage performer, chenda player etc: was so rhythmic that one do not leave like leaving the place much after the performance was over. The performance was preceded by the main artist showing the various bhavas brilliantly and was accompanied by lucid explanation. We then moved on to watch the Kalari performance by dedicated artists displaying their wonderful skills including fire jumping, sword fighting etc; The way the artists synchronise their movement is a lesson in discipline, dedication and team work. Sadly, these art forms are dying and needs all the encouragement lest our future generations remember our rich tradition and culture. The sight of these artists asking for contribution to sustain themselves is heart rending.

Adventurous

We saw periyar lake by boat. Elephant ride is amazing only thing is that two people allowed per ride not single. In kalari centre the we saw kalari fight which is ancient one, how one can protect from any dangerous situation with robbers, terrorists, animal attacks etc. The art of kalari is very famous and calls for rigorous training and stamina. It involves various types of pattus for safeguarding us. Satram area which is the border thick forest range covering three states and walkable nearest route to sabarimala temple around 15 km. Also the hills where the jyothi on makara sankranti day is seen in a hilly region with thick forests and only tribals will live there. It is told that many tigers, elephants, lions, cheetahs, etc will come for drinking water and for food.

A unique culture of Kerala

Kalaripayattu is a traditional warfare tactic of Kerala. It's very pleasant and thrilling to see people performing that. They charge you around 200rs and it's definitely worth your money. Cameras are allowed and you can shoot what interests you :)
