We were two couples with kids and had booked both their duplex tree house units for 2 nights. One of the best tree houses you'll find. Firstly I would like to mention the location which is awesome and needs a four-wheel drive vehicle to reach it. The resort provides pickup and drop from the main road if needed. The resort is huge and located in the midst of cardamom plantation with very good view of the scenic hills. The duplex tree house unit was wonderful, Spacious and ultra clean with interior and exterior wooden paneling. The upper floor has a Living room with a open balcony facing the plantation, a huge bathroom with a Bath tub and the lower floor has a spacious bedroom with complete glass on the plantation side. The best part is that, a tree passes through the unit. Other accommodations available are normal tree house and suite rooms. The resort is very well maintained with complete greenery and complimentary activities like Plantation walk, bird watching, trekking, yoga, cooking sessions and few indoor and outdoor games. Special mention has to be made about each and every staff who treat customers as God. The complimentary veg breakfast was very yummy. Dinner has to be ordered by 6. 30pm and the prices are quite normal. Mr. Harish who runs the place is a very down to earth person and will help you in planning all your activities in Munnar. The best place to have a relaxed vacation amidst nature. If you are at Munnar, definitely do not miss this place. Best of the best. Will definitely visit in near future.
We thought of visiting some place where we would be able to relax and be more nearer to nature. The idea was just to go with the flow of the day with only one thing - "do as the mind pleases". With this I would we had a wonderful stay and Kaivalyam retreat, which is away from the hustle and bustle of the Munnar town and off the main road. All you can hear and see is nature in its abundance . The people here are extremely friendly. I found them always looking forward to keeping their customers delighted. Harish and Anju who are the property owners themselves personally lookup to many day to day activities at the Kaivalyam. Both are warm hear ted people and are quite a delightful hosts . There are various activities to choose from at the retreat. Right from Yoga classes, estate walk to trekking to a river for around 2 hours from retreat. I would highly recommend the Yoga classes which Harish himself takes are really amazing. We just happened to take it for a morning and this is one thing that I would do everyday if I visit Kaivalyam next time . Food is very good here(its vegeterian). Yes - I myself is a non vegeterian and this took me a while as a deciding factor, however based on numerous good reviews, place of the retreat and its people I though after all that would be a good enough bargain and indeed it turn out to be so. Breakfast was complimentary for my package and enjoyed it to the fullest. While the menu of the breakfast is fixed for the day, it keeps changing everyday. They ensure one north Indian and one south Indian option is always available in the breakfast along with bread, cut fruits, local condiments, assorted veggies and roasted sprouts . We were self driving to Munnar. The mistake I did was that I did not contact the Kailvalyam at all till I was on the narrow strip of road which takes towards the retreat. As iterated earlier, the retreat is at secluded place and reaching here requires some driving skills. Upon inquiring on the half way detour to retreat from the state highway, I came to know that they do provide a driver who would drive down your vehicle to the retreat (I however managed to drive down myself - which I would not do the next time). The retreat has the transportation which takes to the main road and back which is complimentary. Even the local taxis that we hired for the day tour would remain on the highway, while the retreat will cordinate to take you up to the taxi . :) It is indeed an experience in itself which I would recommend to anyone.

Kaivalyam is a lovely retreat run by a Gujarati gentleman, set among extensive cardamom plantations in the hills on the way up to Munnar. The rooms are very spacious and nicely done up (they even have a couple of treehouses), there's lots of greenery and flowers on the premises, and the surroundings and views are generally tranquil and stunning. They also have a large number of activities to choose from, including a trek down to the waterfall which is particularly nice as one traverses almost the entire cardamom plantation in getting to the pool under the waterfall (which is very nice for a swim by the way). All in all, it's a great choice if you're staying around Munnar!
I visited this place in month of February along with my wife as this was my first trip to Kerala but I found this place awesome, away from noise pollution so calm place from here you will get a different view of Munnar. Room, staff and owner was very gentle and helpful. They also involve you in various activities like trekking yoga. Good place to visit.
My wife and I visited Munnar at the fag end of our absolutely amazing 15-day Kerala travels. Honestly, we were a tad exhausted and had heard Munnar was quite touristy, so we weren't expecting (to do) much. But our arrival at Kaivalyam seemed to give us renewed energy. The place is 7 km away from the busyness of Munnar, and a steep downhill journey away from the road too. Set amid extensive cardamom plantations and gazing out onto stunning tea estate-laden hills beyond, Kaivalyam is replete with lovely flowers, chirping birds and a rare quietude which is genuinely therapeutic. Run by a Gujarati gentleman, it admittedly lacks a true-blue Kerala feel, but the beauty of the surroundings more than make up for it. The place has about 8-10 rooms, which are spacious and have balconies, and 2 tree houses, each overlooking thick cardamom plantations and having a tree trunk growing right through it! We spent one night in a room and New Year's Eve in the tree house, and it was really memorable. The retreat offers a generous numbers of activities, and we really enjoyed the 2-hour walk down to the river through the plantation. In fact, it's a great place to take a dip (as we discovered a little too late) if weather and a spare set of clothes permit! The New Year's eve celebrations were a dampener - the 'gala' dinner spread was much less carefully prepared than the a la chart meals, the round of Tambola was all-too-mundane and sombre, and one of the basic fireworks lit very carelessly (and dangerously) by the staff burst and made two holes in my wife's shawl! But all in all, considered with the benefits of objectivity and hindsight, we enjoyed our stay and more than anything else the surroundings, which are absolutely lovely!
Conveniently located with good hospitality. It is nature resort, in elaichi garden, located at about 2 km distance from the city and they provided vehicle to pick up and drop. Hotel appearance, exterior and interior were very good and there were trekking and waterfalls nearby. Room was spacious, neat and comfortable with clean pillows, bedspreads and blankets and they provided good working basic amenities and there was elaichi garden view from the room. There were no activities but they arranged a vehicle for sightseeing places. The food served was pure vegetarian with Andhra style food varieties, good quality and very tasty, but there was no non-veg. The hotel room tariff was value for money and it is recommendable to others.
I have only good words about this resort. To begin with I have found this resort in internet and sent and query and the response was very quick. After few discussions I have booked a room by sending the advance. The check-in was very quick. Room was awesome and the view from my room was amazing About the food how much I write it will be less only thing is you should taste by your self. Aval, corn soup, Kashmir pulo, Idiyappam are some dishes which I remember were excellent. Staff were very helpful. Special Thanks to Rajendheran for pickup and drop when we asked for it. Every moment in this resort we enjoyed a lot had many good memories.
We enjoyed a lot in the hotel. The appearance of the hotel from inside and outside was good. The room was neat and comfortable to stay. The food was exceptional as it had enough varieties and my family enjoyed it. There were some activities arranged in the hotel. It was in downside of approaching road. There was no delay while check-in and check-out. The hotel was valuable for the stay and recommendable to others as it is too comfortable.
The hotel is conveniently located and the place is really awesome to stay. The appearance was fantastic and hospitality was excellent. The room allotted was spacious and well maintained with all the required amenities and a plantation view was available from window. The food provided in the hotel was included in the package, which was very nice especially vegetarian food was fantastic. The hotel did not make any delay during check in and check out, it was done smoothly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers also, since the destination is perfect spot for holiday trip.
