The Kalgreen Resort in some 100 kms away from the Chikamangalaur City. So, all the tourist and sight seeing places are far away Anyways 1st advice, DON'T FOLLOW THE GPS, leads you to a route where you 2 wheel drive car can get stuck. Call up the resort in advance and take down the directions. The last 4 kms stretch of road to the resort, umm… let me just out it that way…don't drive it by yourself, no matter how experienced driver you are. There are 2 reasons: 1st- It is dangerous and so leave it to the resort driver's, 2nd- If you're driving you would miss the awesome view of the hills We reached there a bit early, 10. 00am to be precise and so were served a south Indian breakfast after 30 mins(not their fault our check-in was at 12. 00pm). After having our break-fast we freshened up and went for the tea estate, Burma bamboo garden and rock point, all these being arranged by the resort itself. The sightseeing went on for about 4. 30pm and we came back and checked out swimming pool and it was HUGE, HUMONGOUS. We rested for a while and then dipped into the pool at about 5. 30pm, by that time the clouds had covered the entire resort and it was freezing in the waters. After playing in the pool for half an hour, we went back and got ready for the camp-fire. The camp-fire started 8. 00pm and we were invited for it. The camp-fire was held in front of the restaurant, with an amazing view of the coffee plantations and the hills beyond it. The resort is surrounded by small little waterfalls . We had the entire camp-fire to ourselves and there was complete privacy. We interacted with the resort staff and asked them about the flora and fauna of the place. We ordered starters for the event and were served in no time. The camp-fire went on till 10. 00pm in the night and then we had our dinner and it was lights-off for us. Since we had informed the staff earlier the day that we wanted our break-fast early, we were served at 9. 00am sharp and then we started back from the resort . *Be aware of the leeches around, there are many and keep on checking your shoes and legs . *Do carry your rain-coasts or umbrellas . *Do carry a torch, there is power all the time, but just in case.
I've visited and stayed at the Kalgreen Valley Resort a couple of times and every time I travel towards Chikkamagaluru, this is the only place that pops up in my mind . The estate is so beautiful with never ending activities (trekking, fruit plucking, fishing, swimming, jeep rides are some of my favorites). The food that they provide, I still think of it often, it is so good, fresh and you'll just want to fill your stomachs. The rooms are very rustic and gives you a feel of a nature-resort which is very true to it's origin . I would recommend this place to anyone and TRUST ME, you'll have the best time! :D
It was the Holiday trip to Chikmagalur with family in the month of October 2016. I have booked the hotel through the online Holiday among website. The location ambience of the hotel was good. The destination was very good. The greenery view was good. The room was comfortable and spacious. The room was clean and maintained well. The service and the hospitality were also good. The reception staff was polite and humble. The service was fast. The food at the hotel was good. I have ordered veggies. The activities like swimming and all were good.
I visited Chikmagalur it was a normal trip with my friends. I went there in the month of March 2017. I booked it online through the local website. The location of the hotel was an Isolated and it was located on the outskirts of the main city. It was a perfect place for the person who wants to stay alone. It was close to the public transportation also. We have booked the normal room and the room was comfortable. The front office staff was helpful and the service was polite. They have arranged the food on time. We had the local cuisine in this hotel. They took us for the boring coffee and the tea plantation walk and also the trekking. We went on our own vehicle and the parking was ample.
I traveled to Chikmagalur with my family on a holiday trip in the month of May 2017. I booked a room at this resort through online. The resort location was very good with the cool atmosphere. It was nearby to the sightseeing places. It was not easy to reach. It was in the interior from the main area. We reached by own vehicle (car). Free parking facility was there. The appearance was excellent with the in look and outer looks. It was a reoriented building. It was neatly maintained. The front desk was very good with the hospitality. They completed the booking process on time. They were cooperative and responded very well. We took a cottage and it was good. All the required facilities were in a good condition. They took us to sightseeing places and boating was excellent. I liked it so much. Kids play area was also there. It was well maintained. The room service was good. We took non-veg food items and it was restaurant service. It was tasty and well cooked. It was delicious. The overall service was very good and satisfactory. Our stay was comfortable so I suggest this resort to everyone. I indicate the management to improve little more food facility.
I went to the Chikmagalur in the month of May 2017. That was a family holiday trip. I booked my stay by direct booking. We told them to not add Soda in the food but they added and we get health issues. They were providing the daily same type of food. They should improve the food quality and verity of food. The location of the resort was very convenient to reach. The reception staff was good to talk. The service was provided on time. The room was good. The appearance of the hotel was good.
We visited Chikmagalur in the month of May 2017. That was a personal trip for shooting purpose. I booked my stay through the company. They had arranged a buffet for the food and south-Indian food was available. That was good quality and tasty. They provided local food that was good. I used restaurant service for the food. The first room was the good but second room was not good. The water was muddy and hot water was not available all the time. The service staff treated us very well. They served the food very well. We were not like a guest we felt like a home. The manager was very cooperative and helpful. The appearance of the resort was good. The resort was not easy to reach but very good place in the forest. The market and transport were not available near. We went to the resort by the own vehicle. There was no proper parking and a separate room for the driver. The cost was too high in the resort.
We visited Chikmagalur in the month of March 2017. That was a family holiday trip. I booked my stay through online. The service was provided immediately. Whenever we called at the reception they had picked the call and responded properly. They had provided proper information. They should provide the interior. They had done check-in and check-out quickly. That was located in very good place. That was well marked to the road. I booked Non-AC room. The intercom AC Tv was working in the room. We had food in the buffet system and that was good. There was a parking space available. That was a hilly area.
I went to the Chikmagalur in the month of May 2017. That was a holiday trip with friends. I booked my stay by direct booking. We will not have breakfast but they were providing Non-veg Sambar. They were not providing the fruits. The food was tasty but they have to change the menu. There was a maintained swimming pool. The resort location was easy to reach. There was a power cut all the time. The bathroom was smelling so we told them to clean it. The surrounding was full of greenery. The room was comfortable. That was a villa. They had guided us properly for everything. We enjoyed a lot in that villa. We went to the resort by own vehicle. There was a parking space available. The sightseeing was near the hotel. They should provide the extra activities in the resort. Leaving food I didn't have any other problem. They should arrange camp fire.
We went to the Chikmagalur in the month of May 2017. That was a family holiday trip. I booked my stay through online. The room was an ordinary type. There were no special things in the room. The bed was old. The interior was a too old type. They had provided services on type. They took us for the sightseeing. The reception staff welcomed properly. They had provided proper information. The exterior was better than the interior. The resort was located in the area was very good. That was easy to reach. The sunset point was near to the resort. That was in the coffee estate. They had provided direction boards to reach the resort. The food was tasty and good quality. There were no restaurants near the hotel. There was a parking space available. There was a well maintained swimming pool. They should provide a verity of food. That was not worth for money.
For a long time my wife and daughter needed a space from our joint family outside the busy town. So, plan was ready for a stay in Kalgreen Valley near Koppa. We reached there at 7 pm (it was already dark there), was raining, access to the location was bit difficult (last stretch of the road to resort was muddy). Mr. Hameed, the manager welcomed us with an umbrella. We wanted to check-in to the double room villa, but due to heavy raining we were advised not to do so (even the electricity was shut-down). So we check-in to row house which was very near to the dining hall and common places. Room was clean and fresh. No TV (happy), no Mobile network (except for (Double happy !!! ). After a hot water Bath, we were called for the dinner. Excellent Malnad food (Veda and non-veg buffet meals), really felt of returning back to my childhood (I spent my childhood in Sringeri). After dinner it was time for a bonfire. There was a team of 10-12 girls (probably from a company). Wife and daughter enjoyed a lot dancing and singing with the gals. Next day after breakfast we visited Big Bamboo, tree house, tea estate (in their vehicle). The girls team went for trekking. Next our visit was to the huge private lake inside the plantation/ estate itself, very near to rooms. Boating was arranged, and this is the moment I enjoyed, peddling the boat with my wife and daughter. Awesome experience I ever had. Inside a huge estate, nobody (except the person in-charge of boating) there. After boating we relaxed in their park/ lawn. Played some games with my daughter. After a huge lunch (again pure Malnad style veg and non-veg), we took rest for about 2 hrs in room. Next, went to swimming pool. People told us that it is very new, and finishing are due yet. Due to the heavy rain and wind last day, pool got dirty. We couldn't use the pool properly, disappointed and returned back to the room. At about 5 pm we packed up and started from the resort thanking all the staff and manager. On the way back their driver took us to sunset view point. A nice place, thought of visiting next with pure planning Some corrections for next time visit from my side:. 1. Proper planning regarding check-in and check-out. To reach there by 5 pm so that we can see a beautiful sunset. 2. Should get some items for outdoor games (ball, bat etc) . 3. Should go along with other couples (if possible) . 4. Should visit only in off rainy time Some suggestions for resort management/ Advice to the travellers to cross check before visiting:. Arrange for a good sound system (actually I played my car stereo for over 1. 5. Proper cleaning of swimming pool periodically Alternative power supply arrangement Arrangement for some outdoor/ indoor games. 5. Some relaxation therapies/ spa, if arranged, would be useful all. Overall a nice experience with reasonable pay. Homely food, nice hosts (family). Looking forward to visit again .
Along with my friends, I visited this place for a holiday trip. The destination was excellent. The location of the hotel was excellent as it was located in the pollution free area. The appearance of the hotel was very good. The exterior look of the hotel was attractive. The reception staff's were excellent and very supportive. The rooms were very good. The room was spacious and ventilated properly. The service was excellent. The staff's were guiding for all activities like trekking. The food was excellent. The other amenities like spa and swimming pool were good. The outdoor activities like trekking, boating were organized by the hotel. The pickup and drop facilities were available. The overall experience was excellent.
We visited Kalgreen Valley Resort during long week end from 2nd October - 4th October. We reached early morning & entire staff was there for our service Though place is little difficult to locate once we reach there it was worth a wait. Very nicely maintained row houses surrounded by forest. For a such place pleasant surprise was the beautiful & most importantly very clean swimming pool Overall quality & taste of food was really good, most important part is the in-resort kitchen only veg food is cooked & non-veg is cooked by owner himself at his home & then they bring same in resort. This is a very good practice as all vegetarians would love it I will always recommend this place, will also try to visit one more time.
Recently 9 members of my family stayed for a day in the resort. I wish to express my following views about the resorts 1. About the Place. Situated In very good location, close to nature and not much disturbance. 2. Rooms: We were stayed in a row houses, as per as conditions of rooms & Bath rooms are okay but not up to our expectation. They must take some extra care in this matter. 3. Swimming pool: We must appreciate their efforts for the pool which they constructed and that is one of the best place for relax & enjoy. 4. Food: They are not having any big kitchen or they are not serving variety of items. But minimum items with reasonable quality of food manageable. 5. Other Activities: They have provided boating facility in the man made lake and also assist you in their vehicle for visiting tea garden (Not a big one) and sun set point Trekking: Resort authorities have arranged their guide for Trekking you can definitely enjoy if you are interested. 6. Staff: are in minimum and friendly we have not faced any problem with the resort or with the staff Finally good place to stay for a day or two. Their package includes every thing like, accommodation, food, usage of pool, boating, visiting to tea garden, sun set point etc Advice for Travelers: To visit this place you must have your own vehicle. Swimming in the pool is at your risk ( depth is less then 5') You cannot expect ore then what they are providing to you, since this place is away from the city. You must carry basic items medicine, extra towels, and any games items.
I love the wild, maybe because I grew up in this environment when I was young. When one lives in a city, with pollution, traffic and people, I love to go to a place where one is far away from everything. This is a developed jungle, where coffee and other crops are grown in the midst of a jungle. I could go there over and over again The rooms are average, but when one is far away from the city and towns, this is great. Telephone connection is nil at times, but I don't mind. Even if there is no television I don't mind, as I prefer to walk, read and just day dream. In summer, the pool which is fairly big is nice to get into and swim or play or just soak. Swimming is better than being on the Mobile all the time or surfing the net The staff in this place are pretty good and polite, but all may not know to speak English. So knowing the local language is good. The staff are ready to do anything for you. Though the rooms are not big, the beds are pretty clean, you get hot water, not from the geyser but firewood. No supplies are provided in the rooms so carry your own. The restaurant is next door so one can walk to it anytime of the day One can get vegetarian or non vegetarian food. Breakfast is mostly vegetarian and delicious with steaming coffee and tea. For the services provided and distance from the town, the price of the boarding lodging is pretty decent There is nothing close to this resort the town is 6 to 8 kms away, so bring lots of snacks and if you have children please carry all their requirements, medicines etc. The pool is not close to the rooms so one cannot get disturbed. They even have a bungalow where a bigger group can be accommodated One can go for night walks, with the help of the staff, and walk in pitch darkness, carry a torch light and wear boots. In winter or rainy season carry a jacket too In this place you can run, shout at the top of your voice, bathe under small waterfalls, eat some wild fruits, admire nature, see some wild animals if you are lucky, see different birds and hear the sounds, help to pick coffee during its season, see arecanut plucking and cleaning, plucking pepper, do some boating and sometimes fishing and trekking I would definitely like to visit this place once a year to rejuvenate.
