Religious place visited mainly on Makar Sankranti

Maa Kalijai Temple becomes one of my favourite religious place after visiting there in the last week of January 16. It is located on an Island in Chilka, Orissa. It is actually a temple of Maa Kali. The maximum tourists visit here in the Makar Sankranti.

Scintillating Hindu temple

Its a worth for travelling to this temple. Situated in the island of Chilika, the temple is famous for the worship of goddess Kali, the girl Jaii who was drowned in this lake. Every year in January, a big fair is held on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. There is no restriction to carry bags and cameras whenever one visit this temple.

Beautiful temple after a boat ride

So pristine that after one hour boat ride the temple looks so beautiful. Small place, however during festivals it will be crowded. Must visit for nature lovers.

Nice place to visit

Do not miss the Kali Jai temple if you are in Barakul. It is located on an island and is only a 30-minute pleasant boat ride to reach. You can spend few hours over there.

Religious spot on an island

This temple has a perfect location in between water on an island. Regular worship is done in the day time here. Excellent view of the largest freshwater lake of Asia can be seen.
