Kali Temple Overview

Ranked 1 of 12 sightseeing in Patiala
Kali Temple, located on Mall Road, is a popular religious destination for Hindus. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, an incarnation of Goddess Durga, this temple was built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of the Patiala royal family in 1936.
The six-foot idol of Kali Devi is black in color and seen in standing position inside the gold plated sanctum. Being the ferocious form of Goddess Durga, Kali Devi is seen with blood shot eyes, open mouth and a drooping tongue, with a bent sword and a human head in her hand.
Built entirely in white marble, this temple is also known for its beautiful architecture. The walls of the temple have beautiful murals and frescoes depicting the stories from Hindu epics and mythological stories.
One can also visit another ancient temple, Raj Rajeshwari Temple, which is found within this temple complex.
The best time to visit with the whole family is during Navarathra celebrations when the temple is decked up with decorative lights and flower garlands. You can also join the thousands of devotees who come here to offer lentils, sweets, coconuts and bangles to the goddess
Situated well within the city limits, in front of Baradari Garden, this temple can be reached easily.

A must visit !

Dont go on a Saturday. It is insanely crowded. Visit with your family and definitely take pictures of the sarovar. Preferably wear a chappal as it has be removed outside the premises.

Awesome temple

Awesome temple. Mind blowing atmosphere. No words to describe the beauty of the temple, simple and sober. There is a langar bhawan inside the temple. Overall it's a nice and good temple.

Great view

A great expectations and experience to see the rituals here, wonderful life and time to enjoy with the couples and love the god in the place. It is great to enjoy during the daylight and enjoy the prasad here. The blessing from the god means a lot and can be gained from it. The lovely scene of the mall in front are also delight.

Ancient temple, provides food as prasadam

This is the ancient temple in Patiala of Kali mata. Here people worship their god maa Kali, Hanuman and Shiva and Durga mata and all others. Its view is good, they provide free langar facility everyday. Special room is there for the saving of your footwear and you have to worship there without footwears.
