Worst place! Being present on holy land and spiritual place, these people are the last ones you would want to meet. Its not at all meant for family stay. If you are really on a pilgrimage avoid this place. Very bad lodge. Action should be taken on these people. Very bad facilities and full money minded management.

I have been planning to visit Mantralayam for some time, but somehow I was unable to complete this wish. I was also finding it tough to book any room which was a major worry. After some research on the net I found the Hotel Kalpavruksha Lodge. I called the number given and spoke to Prasad Rao "Proprietor". He was very courteous and sounded enthusiastic and willing to help. He gave the necessary options and blocked the rooms. I did the payment online and got confirmation instantly that the room was blocked. I drove on my own to Mantralayam. The route was great till Ananthpur and from then on it was single road (apart from about 30 and the roads were fine. While on my way I was called by hotel people and inquired about my travel time and advised me to have something on the way as, I might arrive at a time when there might not be much available to eat. I halted on my way and finished my lunch with family in Gooty. We reached the hotel by 3 pm. The rooms were renovated and hence, they were in good condition. However, there was no hot water (only concern for me as we had to give Bath to my son who was 3 year old). I booked two A/C rooms and in one room the TV was not functional which was another concern. Since, the purpose was to visit the Temple we did not bother much about these amenities. We had good darshan (twice) in the evening (almost minimal crowd). This place is not that much developed so we cannot expect high class restaurants, there are many budget hotels and basic Udupi and Andhra style restaurants. We finished our dinner in one of the Udupi restaurants (crowded but food was tasty). We rested for the night As promised the car was washed and free breakfast was provided. We settled the payments and left the place to return to our home. Overall, I would say I was happy as things went well without much hassle. I was happy with the owner's courtesy and willingness to help and the service of the people was also courteous (except for one guy who was little arrogant which I, ignored). Please note that, if you are travelling from Bangalore you will have very limited options for eatery on the way. You will find Nandi Upachar (outskirts of Bangalore) and then Kamat Upachar after crossing Chikaballapur so, groups with families have to prepare themselves something or adjust with what is available Points to remember:. Please carry water for yourself, but you can buy water as well. Please carry soaps, shampoo and towels as well.
We were on a trip to Mantralayam mutt. This was the first time we were visiting Mantralayam. The location of the Lodge is close to the temple and one can easily walk the distance. The Lodge also arranges a free pick-up/drop to the temple subject to availability of the vehicles. There is a free pick-up and drop from Manthralayam Road railway station to Kalpavruksha Lodge. The Vehicle no. And driver number is sent by SMS for convenience. This service is excellent as the station is 16 kms away. This is a major plus point in selecting this Lodge. The Lodge also provides a free local tour of temples in and around Mantralayam and this includes the Gowshala. For some additional charges you can also cover the other local sight seeing places outside the city. Complimentary breakfast was provided but without plates & spoons. The rooms were good but very expensive in a village like Mantralayam. The actual rate was Rs 800 per day non-ac but let out at Rs 2000 per day. Generator back-up was not there contrary to claims on their website. Hot water was provided separately in buckets. No towels/soaps were provided. Overall the stay was good minus the above hiccups. Lunch/Dinner can be had at the Annadhanam Hall where Prasadam Meals are served on a daily basis. This is till 2 pm There are different timings during Dhanur Masam (December), Alternatively, on the main road, there are good eateries where you can have lunch/dinner/snacks. There is a Tea Stall close to the Lodge which serves excellent Tea/Coffee.
Kalpavruksha Lodge, Mantralayam is a great place to stay in Mantralayam which is running by Rao. Mantralayam is the place of pilgrimage. Here we basically need guidelines to visit temple and other places nearby. Here Rao and team sent vehicle to railway station and sent SMS about the driver 3 hrs before the arrival of the train. Rooms were clean and no issue for hot water. Later they provided complimentary breakfast and it was good. Later drop us to temple in their own vehicle. Other important point to mention is they took the family photo, given prasadam from temple and good guidelines. Also, they provided / arrange vehicle for nearby sightseeing. Overall, the stay was very nice and we are feeling like, we staying in our own house.
Like anyone else, our purpose of the visit was spiritual to seek the blessings of Swami Raghavendra, apart from the temple and the place, everything went completely wrong in our decision to have chosen Kalpavruksha. As usual, before our travel we started to Google for accommodation and unfortunately landed with the choice of Kalpavruksha, which turned out to be late realization. When we contacted them for accommodation, the main person who interacted with us was Mr. Prasad Rao(believe Manager cum Owner). We booked 2 rooms(2 bedroom and 3 bedroom) with clear understanding on the rent as Rs. 1500 and Rs. 2000 for 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom respectively Once we reached the place and looked at the accommodation, the toilet facility in the 2 bedroom was pathetic, very cramped and unclean. The drain-pipe from washbasin was openly flowing on the bathroom floor and we immediately asked them to shift us to 3 bedroom, which was comparatively better Now comes the climax, when we were settling down the bill, they gave a bill with jacked up rates(than what was agreed earlier), stating Rs. 2000 and Rs. 2500. And the best part being moving, charges of Rs. 500(i. E. Moving from 2 bedroom to 3 bedroom). There were different people at reception right from check-in till check-out and there was completely chaos within their communication and coordination. They were quite arrogant and rude in their behavior, when we tried much amicably to sort out the issue, as it was kind of day-robbery on what they had committed initially and what they are demanding during settlement. Mr. Prasad, had shown a Split personality on how he coordinated initially to get the business from us and once done he spoke in high pitch and unwanted words pushing us to settle the bill with this jagged up price. We being strangers to that place, couldn't confront these people beyond, with their goondaism behavior Also note, they are clever enough to ask advance amount from us, asking to transfer the amount to their AC, they use all possible gimmick words saying, it's busy season-you need to pay the advance amount while booking otherwise you will not get room When it comes to the accommodation, it's not that great, the beds are okay, in fact the bed spreads were torn here and there, the blanket was smelly-not really sure if they wash it with every user-we kept it away. The building is a typical normal building and don't expect anything more looking at the photos and their description on amenities Believe I conveyed the needed message, as experience speaks, please look for the Raghavendra Mutt accommodation as a first choice. They have constructed ample buildings with neat facility.
I visited Mantralaya and stayed in Kalpavruksha Lodge. Lodge is in a good place. We booked the room through online and paid the partial amount. The of the lodge confirmed that he has booked 2 rooms in ground floor based on my request but when we went their he gave us 2 rooms in 2nd floor. He argued with me stating that I have not sent any email and the confirmation is done only through phone. We were so upset and have asked him to check the email and then he found my email. Then they arranged 1 four bedded suite in ground floor which made us upset while entering. Room was not worth for the money, bathrooms were not good. Since, the purpose was to visit the temple we did not bother much about these amenities. We had good darshan, they arranged for a day plan to Nava Brindavan, Panchamukhi Anjaneya Temple and Bichali and it was so good with a cost of Rs. 6000 in Chevrolet Enjoy The pickup and drop in auto from Railway station to Lodge was horrible. We were around 7 members and they added 1 more family with us when we dropped to railway station in their Auto.
