The Kanakakunnu Palace is one of the major tourist attractions in Thiruvananthapuram, situated in the vicinity of Napier Museum. This heritage monument and architectural marvel was used as a summer retreat by the Travancore kings, who also entertained their guests here. Built during the reign of Sree Moolam Thirunal, Kanakakunnu Palace was later modified by King Chithira Tirunal.

The recent restoration of the palace and its premises has made it an ideal venue for cultural meets, exhibitions, fairs and hangouts. The palace premises has two auditoriums - Nisagandhi Open-Air Auditorium and Sooryakanthi Auditorium.
