Kanyakumari Beach Overview

Ranked 3 of 30 sightseeing in Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari Beach is a beach destination as well as religious spot located towards the southern-most tip of peninsular India. The sun set and sun rise at Kanyakumari Beach, especially during Chaitrapurnima (full moon days in April), are highly popular among visitors. During Chaitrapurnima, visitors can watch both sunset and moon rise simultaneously at Kanyakumari Beach.

Kanyakumari Beach has rocky shores and the sea is rough due to the confluence of the three waters – Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean.  The sand of Kanyakumari Beach is famous for its softness and various hues.

There is a light house at Kanyakumari Beach from where panoramic views of the sea are available.

Kanyakumari

Dubbed as the tip of India, Kanyakumari is known for its beautiful beaches, Vivekananda Memorial and the ever-so perfect sunset. Indeed it is one of the most exotic places to visit in India. One can find destinations here that can never cease to amaze, there are temples, churches, religious pillars and statues everywhere. The perfect mix of culture of the place is reflected in the art, architecture and even in the local cuisine of Kanyakumari. Those who enjoy history can undertake an excursion to the Kumari Amman Temple or to the Vattakottai Fort. Chilling at seashores like Sanguthurai Beach, Sothavilai Beach amongst plenty others is simply exotic. The wax museum is a different yet equally alluring place for tourists and is must see in the city.

Sunset point, rocks, beach is a km away

Good sea fishes being fried and sold, they were delicious. No parmanent shops, but few road-side vendors were available. Parking is available. Beach is about a km away from here and can be seen from this point. However, there is a very small beach area which can be used by children.

The Kanyakumari Beach

The beach is not well maintained because there is a flee market just to the beach and lot of crowed goes through. Flee market offers sea stones and coastal things. You will find people bathing also at this beach. Due to rocks tides come bit slower but not that much clean or safe to have Bath. Sunset view can be enjoyed if you miss at Vivekananda Rock memorial.
