Peaceful lake to be visited again

Lake looked so peaceful and fresh and we enjoyed boating, thinking to visit next year with my family. Video and photography is allowed in here and we enjoyed a lot.

Amazing kayaking and canoeing

Our tour with Kerala Kayaking was one of the highlights of our time in Kerala. The six-hour afternoon kayak tour is very well-designed. You do a fair amount of kayaking, but in four short sessions that are interspersed with lunch and breaks on a small traditional motorboat. Kayakers of all levels should be able to manage. The use of the motorboat allows the tour to cover more ground, so you get to see a bunch of different types of canals and communities, which we really appreciated these are things you don't get to see when you are on a large houseboat. Our guide, Samson, was very knowledgeable and interesting, he has tons of opinions about all aspects of Alleppey and Indian society, culture, religion, current events, you name it, and he shared those opinions in an engaging (but not too overbearing) way. A houseboat tour doesn't allow you to go down tiny canals, and doesn't usually come with a knowledgeable guide who is willing and able to answer all kinds of questions about what you're paddling by. It was fun to get some physical activity, and although it was definitely hot, the weather was very manageable (just remember to wear and re-apply sunscreen). The tour price includes transportation to and from your hotel, lunch, a tea break, the guide, the motorboat driver, and the kayaks and motorboat.

Badly maintained

All the waste materials are dumped directly to the lake. The floating African Payal is the main distraction here in the lake. The lake is used for snake boat in the recent times due to the straight nature of the lake. There is no boats or canoes for transport but for black marketers of lake sand there are many and some boats of the Kerala police.

Memorable time

Kayamkulam Lake is a huge lake. Boathouse facility is available in this lake. We can see spectacular view of sunset from this lake. Near to this lake there is thermal power plant. Boat house at this lake are very good and affordable. Had a very memorable time at this place.
