Kheer bhawani temple - on way to Sonemarg

Kheer bhawani temple lies about 20 km from Srinagar on way to Ssonemarg.. Really apious place of Maa Kheer Bhawani situated in mid of pond.. Prasad of kheer, and mind is offered to goddess.. In Prasad we received yummy kheer prepared by devotees of temple... We enjoyed pure vegetarian in nearby hotel... Especially their dish of nadir and ganthgobhi leaves and pickles of ganthgobhi.

Very old and famous temple

Me along with my wife visited this temple in the month of July 2015. It is located at Tulmul Village Distt, Ganderbal. It is approx, 2-3 hours drive from Srinagar. The temple is here since long time and is very famous. Devotees bring Milk or Kheer which is poured into Pond and is termed as offering to Mata. There is huge pond which changes its colour when colour is turned black then it is indication of some inauspicious happening for Srinagar.

Wonderful temple

Kashmiri Pandits say that the Goddess is an Atmalinga on the form of Kheer Bhawani Devi. We booked a car that provided by the Hotel and it is around 9 Miles and around 9 AM we visited this temple and prayed to the Goddess and got blessings.

A soulful aarthi is performed

I was moved to tears as few of the last few Pandits were performing a soulful aarti and singing hymns later in this holiest of shrine since times, immemorial in cultural religious history of the Nation and Kashmir Kashyap valley in particular.Location: drive left from Ganderbal for 6 kms to Tulla Mulla(atulya Mulyana= invaluable ) in local language. Only strict instructions of non meat eaters or leather goods wearers etc and Forces presence pricks us. Mother welcomes all esp those who need her divine support.Enter the secured gate sign in with the Police register and enter a place forlorn, huge Chinar trees a silent witness to a tragedy, without its Faithfuls Kashmiri Pundits all gone.Legend of Ragnya devi who was angry with Ravana of Lanka for being sinful. She asked Hanuman to take her away to place secure, hills around and Satisar lake(Kashmir Valley was ) within. Serpents guarded her Anant Nag with thousand petaled rose seat for her being her favourite. Pundit Govindji dreamt and revealed this site for Pundits to pray. She is revered by all Kashmiri Pundits across the world. Tripura sundari creator of Universe herself spouse of Bhuteshwar Shiva. Her kinetic energy moves the great potential of Shiva to create good in each life they say. For non Hindus- just get the message from the poetic analogy.
