Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu's twelve incarnations

Kumbha Shyam Temple was built in 15th-century 1449 by Maharana Kumbha, with a fine sculpture of Lord Vishnu in his Varaha means Boar incarnation. When Meera arrives to the Chittorgarh on her request a small temple adjoining to Kumbha Temple was built by Maharana Sangram Singh to worship Lord Krishna and it is named Kumbh Shyam temple. It is a temple complex in which Meera Bai's Temple and Kumbha Shyam Temples are situated. This grand temple is dedicated to twelve incarnations of Lord Vishnu, besides all these incarnations Garuda beneath in umbrella in the courtyard just opposite to the main sanctum. Brown coloured Baluha stone a variety of sandstone is used in its construction, temple is having high apex dome and high plinth base. The doors of the Sanctum, panels, ceiling of dome and pillars are finely sculpted with images of Deities and sacred emblems. Besides its intricately artwork in outer section the principal niches in the walls are endowed with the Idols of Lord Vishnu in various forms. One must admire the sculptor artists of that period who executed complete work masterly. Outside the temple walkway round the temple and inside around the sanctum for doing Pradakshina. It's visit is worth just not because of its architectural value and divine idols of Lord Vishnu's incarnations but the rich life of Mewar which is artistically inscribed on the panels of the temple. After divine insight one may have photographs, so camera is essential and may lead to Meera Bai's temple and to other attractions like Victory Tower, Kalika Mata Temple etc.
