Kunjaban Palace Overview

Ranked 7 of 45 sightseeing in Agartala

Kunjaban Palace, formerly known as Pushbanta Palace, is a recreation palace that was constructed by King Birendra Kishore Manikya in 1917. Located 1 km north of the Ujjayanta Palace, this enormous building on the hillock currently serves as the official residence of the Governor of Tripura. To the south of the palace is a large park, named Ravindra Kanan, which is open to the public throughout the year.

The plan of the palace and its adjoining garden was drawn by the king himself. Reflecting his artistic taste, this palace is characterised with beautiful carvings and innovative construction. This palace basks on the hallowed memory of Rabindranath Tagore, who has composed many songs at this retreat. After the dissolution of the monarch state into a republican country, the palace was handed to the Government.

The Governor house of Tripura

Highly secured place now.It is the Governor's residence now, so not much can be spoken about this place for its confidentiality and difficult access for tourists. Situated in a very nice place of Agartala with important locality around it, again can not be detailed because of its confidential nature.Just in case this archaeological place can be revived back for tourist viewing with a proper accommodation for the Governor then this can be a nice place of attraction.
