The highest point of the Spiti Valley

Mesmerizing views of Kunzum Pass at a height of around 15059 feet which connects Spiti valley with Lahul and Kullu valleys. It is one of India's highest mororable mountain pass and is one of the route to Kaza. The road up to the pass is not a National Highway, just a link road made up of dirt, mud and often loose gravels. Journey took around nine to ten hours on an average as several parts of the roads are flooded with water coming down from melting glaciers and also there are several sharp hair pin curves. So it was very tough and challenging driving on this road. Need very skillful and expert driver to go through the pass. On the top of the pass there is a temple of Goddess Kunzum. We got down from the car and took a round of the temple to seek the blessing of Kunzum Devi. We halted there for a while to engulf the magnificent view of "BARA-SIGRI" glacier which is the second longest glacier in the world. In a word Kunzum pass is a most panoramic and photographic place.

Highest motorable pass

This pass connects Spiti to other parts of Himachal Pradesh. At a height of 4551 metres from mean sea level, this pass is the highest one you can reach via vehicle. There is also a Kunzum Devi temple considered very sacred. It is used as a road to reach Spiti via Kasol. You can also go for a 8 kilometres trek to Chandratal from this place. The beauty is mindbogglingly beautiful from where the entire Valley gets a birds eye view.

Serene location with awesome view

A pass on NH-05 which separates moderate difficult road and worst difficult road. Most adventurous road starts after this pass towards Manali, with football size boulder on road and knee depth water crossing. These water crossing can easily engulf big SUV's during hours of afternoon when snow is melting with fast pace. A temple is there of Kunzum maa. No basic facilities are available here, so be prepared from all the aspects like health wise, finance wise, food backup wise etc etc.

A photographer's paradise

It's an amazing experience of nature. A photographer's paradise. Deep blue sky with picture perfect snow capped mountains. Truly beautiful. Don't forget to stop at Batal for your breakfast or lunch with hot rajma chawal.

Amazing place with breathtaking views

Crossed Kunzum Pass in mid December with a group of locals from Spiti who were going on a religious tour. We made a brief stop at the top of the pass for prayers. It was so windy, it was difficult even to stand. The scenery was absolutely brilliant with panoramic views all around.
