Lingmala Falls Overview

Ranked 6 of 36 sightseeing in Panchgani

Lingmala Falls lies on the Mahabaleshwar-Pune Road. Ideal time to visit the waterfall is from July to December. From the area around the waterfall, beautiful views of Dhobi Waterfall and Chinaman's Waterfall can be availed. The falls are ideally viewed after the rainy season when these are flooded with water, which descents nearly 500 ft from the cliff.

A scenic Lingmala Waterfall

The Lingmala waterfall is located enroute to Mahabaleshwar, close to Panchgani. The transport is must to reach the gate that leads to the waterfall. There is a nominal entry fee to be paid to enter the premises. The walkways covered with trees and cool breeze makes the walk easy. There are two points of attraction, one is at around 200m from the entrance and other one the main fall lies at a distance of more than 500 m climb. The nearest miniature version of fall is a place where one can enjoy splashing water. After spending time here, we headed for the Lingmala fall. It is a manageable climb, took us around 20 mins to reach the top. Enroute to the top do not forget to enjoy the panaromic view of valleys around. From the top, we witnessed a majestic Lingmala waterfall although the stream was not strong. It must be a beautiful sight during monsoon. Well, coming to the food part, there were 2 or 3 guys selling cucumber, bhel .. Etc. Just after the main entrance. If you wish, you may carry eatables along but keep the premises clean. Better to keep a water bottle along. Overall it is a good sight where one can enjoy up to 2 hours.

Peace at Lingmala

A 800-1000 meter walk from the main gate till you reach the peaceful sight of the Lingmala Waterfall. You have two options, left for a mini water fall and right for the main waterfall.Timings are 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Please do not carry plastic and litterable material.Enjoy the cool waterfall and make a picturesque moment.Suggest for all age groups, provided you can walk back up 1000 meters back the stairs.

Two Scintillating Waterfalls

The Lingmala Falls are a set of two Scintillating Waterfalls situated off the main Panchgani-Mahabaleshwar road. The drive from the main road is for about 3 kms or so there is ample parking space available outside the entrance gate. There is a small fee payable per person for entry. The walk inside is quite long. To reach the smaller waterfall, you need to walk for about 1. 50 kms & to reach the higher waterfall, you need to walk for about 2. 50 kms from there. The walk back is on an incline, so it is a bit strenuous & you may need to take a few short breaks to get your breath back. It is however a beautiful location in the midst of the jungle & you get to see a few Monkeys prancing around as well. We visited in Jan & due to the poor monsoon season last year, there was not much water. Since you can walk right up to the smaller waterfall, it is enjoyable. The Larger waterfall has to be viewed from a distance on a height, as you cannot go close there due to the terrain, so it is just a trickle from such a distance & is not much fun to watch at this time of the year. All in all, a very good experience & good exercise walking to the two waterfalls too. A must visit place, if you have not been there before.

Well maintained by the tourism department

It is a place to enjoy Mahableshwar & Panchgani trip. The waterfall is big and flows in a deep valley between 2 mountains. The place is well maintained by tourism department, the way towards waterfall is best. Me and my group have celebrated the birthday of one of our friend at this place. One can relax here and have a awesome feeling and a must visit.
