Long Island-Tale of an Island

Long Island is 3. 30hr journey from Port Blair by water. I had to take boat from Phoenix Bay jetty, Port Blair. It's not a popular tourist destination but this is a captivating place to visit. Just 1. 5 year ago also, this place had no 4 wheelers. Aia hsd to roam around the whole island by walking only although I could see just 1 auto and 1 maruti here. Only 5000 people live here. This island is having 1 beautiful forest tent house and 1 mini hotel (name is Blue Whale or something). You can go to Errata Creek by boat and it's a 7km boat journey through the Mangrove Forest. You have also Lalaji Bay Beach, Guitar Island, North Passage Island to visit here.

Calm and quiet place on the way to Rangat from have

A place to walk along sea shore or forest with arrows of different colours on road. Only one place, BLUE PLANET, to stay if you are not one to be accommodated in guest house of forest department.Nostalgic for you if you spent sometime of your past life in remote villages of Sundarbans or some other place of rural south Bengal. Almost a primitive life with minimum of modern amenities, Blue Planet is good for two nights with scope to watch beautiful sunset in the landscape of other small islands and a quiet sea view.A walk or boat trip to Lalaji beach provides another scope to enjoy Bath in a quiet sea.

Perfect for Camping

One of the lesser travelled areas, Long Islands is excellent for camping. There aren't much facilities, so bring your own things. Only very recently, a resort has developed in this quiet island.

A cell of Indian history

The cellular jail was established by Britishers for keeping Indians as prisoners, once popularly known as kala pani. This is a wonderful place for visit. The architecture is very good. Also it would take at least 3 hrs to fully see the cellular jail. Later at evening light and sound show is held which depicts the Indian freedom history related to this jail. Also there is a monument at the entrance for paying tributes to our brave freedom fighters.
