The overall experience was good in the hotel. The hotel was located conveniently. The hotel was situated close to city. The staffs in the hotel were good. I was happy with the room allocated to me. I didn’t face any delay in check in and checkout. The appearance of the hotel was traditional. The room was neat, clean, spacious and well maintained. The amenities in the room were functioning properly. Hot and cold water was provided all the time. The hotel had served non veg food. Quality of the food was good. The food was value for money. The hotel had not provided the activities. The hotel was value for money.
I had a romantic stay here and enjoyed very much. The food was awesome and loved the way they were serving us. There is a beautiful location of hotel and it looks very good during morning and sunset. The rooms are very safe and secure with very good security. The activities are also fun loving.
Matheran is located about 100 km from Mumbai, nearest train station being Neral, which is approx 11 km from Matheran. From Neral, one can either rent a taxi (60 rupees for a shared cab, 300 for the whole car) to the entrance of Matheran. From there, one can walk to the city center or rent a horse (150-200 rupees per horse) Lords Central is situated right at the bazaar, in the middle of Matheran. We had booked 2 Valley View rooms (which comes with verandahs) which had a splendid view. You can probably read a book or enjoy your mug of beer peacefully in here. I could spot a tiny badminton court & a swimming pool, which had very few takers cause of the weather then. The rooms are strictly okay, so don't expect any plushness or luxury in the material sense A special mention to the owner & his family who ensure that you get a very homely feeling. Highly recommended.
What a great way to enjoy nice weekend near Mumbai. Superb location, easy travelling. Nice staff at the hotel Lords Central. Prompt service, polite and friendly. Room was spacious and well decorated. Delicious food and all this at very much affordable rates. Highly recommended.
This is the only hill station in India without vehicles and pollution. The best place to visit, a land of calmness and relaxation. It is only 4 hours from the Mumbai city. It's the best cosy place to visit during a weekend . . The hotel provides all the basic amenities plus the pool of all we look for in a short tour. The food variety is its speciality. The service of the hotel is its speciality. The small but rich content of book corner to read gives a special flavour of the tour. The scenic beauty of the nature from the lawn and the pool areas brings all the charms of the life. The rising sun or the evening dusk bring a charm to life You can book online to ensure your reservation. The process of booking is also very easy and trusted. The journey to this place by the toy trains brings all the charm and happiness It's a place, where a family or couple can enjoy the tour. There are playing corners for the children and also the romantic venues beside the pool. People who are fond of cottage, can find the best place to stay here. The package of staying is cheap and with quality of staying.
We had stayed there in the May 2014 for 2 nights. It was weekend trip and intention was to spend holiday peacefully. Spacious room, clean and well decorated. Courteous staff and food was excellent. Swimming pool was clean and we had fun in pool. My family enjoyed a lot here and I recommend this property.
A truly heritage property. The room we were offered, was awesome. The room was clean, and spacious, with classy interiors. Solid wood furniture was impressive. There were some activities in the evening. There was a nice spread in breakfast as well as lunch/dinner. The staff was extremely polite. There was a nice view from the room. A perfect gateway for the weekend from the busy Mumbai life. A highly recommended stay.
Hotel was located conveniently. Staff behavior was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious, neat and clean with all amenities provided. I had food from outside. No delay in check-in or check-out procedure. Overall stay was amazing and it was an official trip with friends. I would like to recommend other travelers too.
Matheran is an amazing getaway as the red mud and the zero pollution takes you away from the hustle of the city just in an hour and a half. The lords central is the best place to stay as the food service and the property is an amazing. The view of the valley takes you to midst of the clouds and experience the natural beauty in its own.
We have stayed here a couple of times and everything looked great till we found Horseland hotel Really this is a great place to stay, but the management keeps increasing the price without improving the service. Suggest they make their prices low like horseland hotel, add karaoke and activities Their food is excellent much better than others and I love their tea and breakfast. All food is Parsi style and five course meals. Its like the rich Parsis home dining experience. Current activities are okay. They have a clean swimming pool, library, carom, etc. Stay here if you don't mind paying a bit more for the food.
My very first nights in India were spent here. I chose the vegetarian option. What may not be clear in comparisons with other Matheran hotels is that you get three generous meals included in the room price at this hotel. Fantastic view from your room if you take a Valley View room, which is really a suite - small sitting room for four at the front, large bedroom with one double and two singles for
Matheran is the only location in India which is pollution free. Hotel Lord Central is an old Sindhi hotel where you can enjoy veg and non-veg food (no drinks supply). Good panorama view from rooms. Service is excellent. Near to market and horse stand, distance from railway station is only 10 mts walk. We went on June 3rd 2014. It was a nice experience in travel on horse back. Hotel Lord needs renovation without compromising the old British look.
It was one of the best experiences of my life. We were a group of 20 people and each one of us enjoyed the hotel, the hosts, the food ( simply superb), the outdoor activities, the poolside view of the sunrise (the best in Matheran, I believe) and the hospitality of the Parsi owners along with each one of their staff. I strongly recommend if Matheran is your destination, then Lords should be your place of stay. No second opinions please.
His being a heritage hotel, it has it's own charm. And located right on the egde of mountain one gets a very good and clear view of the valley on east side.
The time was ripe for our Weekeng Gateway and we we drove off to Matheran from Navi Mumbai. The road map was with us and we reached our destination i.e. Dasturi Naka in 2 hours. One needs to keep on moving straight from Panvel .The drive itself was very relaxing with the roads well maintained . Care needs to be take in the final lap of the journey from Neral to Matheran as the climb here is preety steep and in some places you will have no option but to switch to first gear . Also it will not be advisable to overload your car. One needs to remember that Matheran is vehicle free and hence the vehicle must be made to park in Dasturi Naka from where one can walk or take a hand cart/horse to Lords Central Hotel. The journey from Dasturi Naka takes approx 45 minutes by foot and the meandering path through the forest gives you a break from city roads. The stay at Lords Central Hotel has truely been one of my better experiences . To start with the hotel has a old world charm around it. Some portions looked vey similar to the hotels at Manali with there red wooden windows and meandering pathways. The rooms will make any tired traveller instantly comfortable . The furnishing do not reflect grandeur but are earthy and the colonial touch is noticeable. The view is directly of the valley . One can see the sunrise from behind the mountains , although I wasnt that fortunate being a somewhat of a late riser. Among the facilities we had was a Swimming pool , table tennis table again an older version of the one we usually see at our clubs , a Badminton court a life sized Chess table (Though this one does need some maintaining to do) and a library . The library is just on the porch and one can read through the afternoon looking into the courtyard . Being a rather avid reader I did miss on the quantity of fiction though an entire decade of Reader Digest Subscription copies can keep you occupied quiet nicely. Also I made a point to save the best for last , you see I am a Bengali and we have this insatiable appetite for good food preverably non veg , keep my tummy full and I am happy . Well having said that these parsis did not dissapoint me . The brekfast consisted of all varities of omlettes from scrambelled eggs to your masala omlette . An all you can eat fiesta. Lunch and dinner come in several courses and one can see that care has been taken to prepare the dishes before you. Also the staff remains forever courteous and is always ready to unload that extra helping into your plate.
