Kanchendzongha on one side, ZigZag road to the other

We stayed at the Lungthang Eco Retreat Homestay, probably the best accommodation in Lungthang. It was mid February and the one colour we can see, is white. At Zuluk it was raining and when we were ascending upwards through the Zigzag roads the rain drops suddenly turned into snowfall. I don't have any words to describe the beauty of the zigzag road covered with snow. We had to apply chain on the wheel of our car to make our way through snow. Main attraction of the place is Thambi view point. As I say earlier Kanchendzonga on one side, ZigZag road to the other side. Zuluk is visible at the end of the zigzag road which have about 32 hairpin bend. At that time the whole area was covered with snow, temperature minus degree. We stayed there for a whole night, fighting with the freezing temperature, even the surface of water on the bucket had turned into ice. That was on of the best night experience in mountain.

The dense beauty

This place in the slopes of old silk route leaves you awestruck with the panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga and the snow clad zig zag silk route of the mountains. The stay for a night leaves you in complete tranquillity and utter happiness.

Me, Sun and Clouds were all magnificent

What an awesome amazing, tranquil and serene place. One must stay for a night there. Oh! It's so exciting to enjoy the magnificent view of Mt Kanchenjunga throughout the day sitting by the roadside above the clouds!!!! During sunset the view of setting sun at one side and the magnificent Kanchenjunga on other side. And in between these and me golden clouds were swimming. There are few homestay available there. I stayed in Lungthung Real Estate Resort. Hospitality and food were very good.

On the slope of hills near the clouds and Kanchenjungha

When we reached Lungthung it was 8. 30 in the morning, we tried to get a glimpse of Mt. Kanchenzongha but failed because of dense cloud around that region. Even Zuluk although could be seen clear a few minutes before seemed faded as the clouds were running to cover up the whole area. Again there was a clear view of Zuluk & the beautiful zigzag roads coming upwards to Lungthung. Our car stopped on the highway and the driver led us downwards on the slope of the hill to our homestay in Lungthung. We have been allotted a room on the side which in one word just fabulous for being with 2 windows. One facing Zuluk gave us a panoramic view of the zigzag "Bhulbhulaiya" & Zuluk and from the other the whole panorama covering Mt. Kanchenjungha could be seen if clouds disappear. After having welcome tea, suddenly the weather improved and a faded Kanchenjungha appeared on the horizon. But the joy disappeared as the white clouds came running towards our stay and covered the whole area within a second. We were forced to close the windows as the chilling clouds almost drenched our bedding and the temperature seemed getting into minus. My friends have to leave for Zuluk again as one of them started feeling some pressure in chest while taking a breadth. But I stayed there all through the day & night with the clouds which in the daytime sometimes became darker and sometimes faded out in the sun rays. But when I woke up at 5. 30 in the wee hours in the morning it was dark but clear and after a few minutes I could see Kanchenjunga from my window itself. I became so excited that covered my self with a shawl 7 tried to run out of the room but the chill outside prevented me & after having proper warm clothing on I came running on to the road above to view & photograph the mountain in all its glory. I pictured as many photo as possible forgetting the winter chill of the morning like a mad. The room allocated was not a huge one and on the slope of a hill that was not possible either but it was comfortable to stay at chilling winter night as the temperature outside dropped to minus at night. The food offered was pretty good considering the place.
