Maghnoa Doul

Maghnoa Doul Overview

Ranked 10 of 17 sightseeing in Kaziranga

Maghnoa Doul, also known as Phulbari Doul, is situated east of the Pichola River and at the bank of Maghnoa Beel. During ancient times, this place was one of the scared sites, where Goddess Kali was worshipped. The shrine of the goddess was hidden at the time of invasion of the Maan, however it was never returned to the doul.

This 75 feet high doul houses Bulani Ghar, which was the site, where the idol was enshrined. The doul is bounded by 5 feet high walls, which protected the numerous sculptures, idols and valuable items. At present, no sculptures and idols can be seen in the premises, as they all have been stolen by the local people.
