Mahavir Mandir Overview

Ranked 1 of 40 sightseeing in Patna

Mahavir Mandir is one of the most prominent and well-renowned temples in Bihar, which is enshrined with the deity of Lord Hanuman. The initiation of this temple is unknown, however according to historical facts, this temple is said to be established by Swami Balanand, who was a disciplinary of Ramanandi Sect during 1730 AD. This temple was discovered during the British rule.

The temple comprises the brass shrines or Kalas, which can be seen on the roof. During 1983 and 1985, the temple was remodelled and many idols were installed such as Sankat Mochan Hanuman and Jagaddhatri. Other than Lord Hanuman, the temple also showcases the idols of Shiva family, Krishna Arjun, goddess Durga, Lord Ganesh, Lord Buddha, Satyanarian Bhagwan, Lord Ram and his wife Sita.

Mahavir Mandir Trust, a trust established in the year 1987, manages many medical camps through which they provide free medicines and subsidised treatments to poor. These camps also give special treatments to kids, who at the age of twelve are suffering from cancer.

This is the only temple of the country, where the donation made to the priest while performing ceremonies also goes to the temple's trust. It is definitely the first temple in the northern India to utilise its entire donation in religious projects or programmes that involve helping and aiding the poor with medical as well as monetary facilities.

Centre of faith

The Mahavir Mandir is the second largest temple in Northern India in terms of donations and funds that this temple has. It is devoted to Lord Ram and Hanuman. A special sweet called Naivedyam which is made by the cooks from Tirupati temple is used as offerings. The temple is just next to Patna junction and is very busy especially on Tuesdays, Saturdays and puja days.

Holy place for Hindus

Located just outside Patna main station, the temple is one of the busiest in Patna. There is no separate queue for VIPs here. The prasad is made by Tirupati temple people and is a must for any visitor. Besides Mahavir, it also has other temples on the first floor.

Very holy temple with good facilities

It is very close to Patna Jn and very holy temple this is and I also say it is full paisa vasool place. It has facilities to keep your slippers, sandals and shoes in locker for free, so you can claim it after darshan. It is three to four floor temple and it also has facilities for drinking pure water or wash hand or leg before darshan.

Most beautiful Mandir

The most beautiful Mandir made in the heart of city. Just in front of Patna Railway Station. Whenever you are in Patna do visit the Mandir and seek blessings of Bajrang Bali Ji. From the top floor of Mandir you can get a fabulous look of the Patna City as well.

Holy temple

Mahavir Mandir is besides of Patna junction. It is the Hindu's temple of Bhagwan Hanuman and Rama. Here I feel the peace when I entered the temple. Everyone has to pray and I also pray for Lord Mahavir and Rama. I bought the prasad from campus of the temple and distributed to the beggars. I suggest that if you trust in God then please go there.

Nice temple but need to maintain the cleanliness

The temple is nice and has 3 floors to it. It is located just next to Patna Railway Station. But the nearby area is heavily crowded and dirty. The temple itself was also not that clean.
