So we were scheduled to visit Kochi in March and had to make a choice of where to stay. There are some luxurious hotels in Ernakulam, also Taj Malabar in Willingdon Island is a beauty and then there are the smaller boutique hotels of the old Fort Kochi area. After lot of deliberation we froze upon Malabar House, Kochi. A heritage property with touches of past including stone pillars in the room, red oxide flooring interspersed with greenery in the small hotel which has just 17 rooms . . We stayed at the deluxe room, and one of the things that struck us first was the size of the room, which was quite small I must say. Even more alarmingwas the bed was hardly 5 feet width which is unlike what experienced in any quality hotel so far. The room though had an airconditioner, albeit not a very effective one. Flat screen TV, a mini bar and a safe were also included, though there was no cupboard as such. There was Free WiFi available in the rooms, but the speed was not great. The bathroom had a bathtub but no faucet in the w. C. The property has a small swimming pool apart from the restaurant; the quality of food was quite good here. The breakfast spread was adequate for the size and they had a mix of live cooking apart from the standard fare of fruits, bakery products, juices, cornflakes. The hotel serves beer and wine but no hard liquor. They also have arrangement for massage therapies in the premises. Staff was generally helpful and service levels were not bad at all. The location is great if you want to explore the Fort Kochi area as a lot of attractions, boutique stores, restaurants etc are within walking distance. Even the beach is a few hundred metres away. The only draw back for us was the pricing. After staying at 75 hotels across 15 countries in the last 5 years, by no parameter were we able to justify the price tag of the room which was on par with a 5 star hotel rate. By that benchmark, the value for money was surely a let down. Maybe for foreigners who are very keen to stay at Fort Kochi, it might be feasible.
The overall experience was good in the hotel. The overall hotel was fine. Everything was fine in the hotel. I had visited this hotel with my colleagues for official tour. The food and drinks were not available in the hotel. The activities were not available in the hotel. The check in and check out was on time. I would not suggest anything to this hotel.
Went to Kerala with family and relatives and checked-in Malabar House Hotel cum Resort located at Parade road, Kochi. The hotel looks beautiful from both outside as well as inside. Rooms were clean and were beautifully organized. Hotel has a friendly staff and room service. Hotel has a bar and cafeteria also. Hotel also has a beautiful yet small swimming pool and a snooker and carom room. The food and drinks were good. The best past is that the hotel is surrounded by beautiful trees all over which ensures fresh air and cool environment.
It was very nice experience to us for Kerala trip. We had a very nice rooms in this hotel and the food was very tasty and we enjoyed a lot. Especially rooms were excellent and nature was very nice. It was very good experience in this Malabar house. We would like to come again.
We had stayed in this hotel for about 3 days and I must say that it's very good place to relax in the beautiful city of Kochi. The ayurvedic treatment offered by malabar was just ultimate and the pool of the hotel is having all world class facilities in it and it's very enjoyable to spent time in the pool. The rooms are very beautiful which gives a very luxurious experience . . The surroundings of the hotel are very beautiful and because of which the hotel looks just awesome. The food stuff of the hotel was very delicious both lunch and dinner. The cuisines of the hotel and specially mocktails was very good. Although the tariff is bit costly but it's worth to stay in such a great 5 star resort. I highly recommend to stay in this hotel for once if you visit Kochi.
Hotel itself is an old heritage building, we received warm welcome by hotel staff on arrival. Hotel staff were very help full from the time of arrival to departure. We stayed at room no 14 which was in ground floor with an nice sit out. Room was neat and clean, liked the high bed and art collections in room.
It is one of the most beautiful hotel near Cochin. It provides good services. It is not near to airport. I found it one of back-on on this hotel but it provides good service to all my family. The food and services are of good standards.
This is a very cool hotel with an impressive entrance, lobby, swimming pool area, and outdoor restaurant. You know you have arrived somewhere of quality the moment you walk in. The front desk staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful . . The rooms are what you would expect of a boutique hotel but are somewhat let down by the lack of finesse, and by the bathrooms which are not top quality. There was also some muckraking in the ceiling and it just wasn't all as slick as the entrance etc areas. We had an enormous terrace which was very pleasantly designed. Breakfast was good although slightly lacking in choice.
