Malampuzha Dam is one of the largest reservoirs in Kerala, which is located in Palakkad. This dam is a combination of 220 m long earthen dam and masonry dam, which is 1849 m in length. The Malampuzha Dam is around 6,066 ft high and is located along the Malampuzha River, which is a tributary of Bharathappuzha.

The two canal systems, having a capacity of 42,090 hectares, serve the reservoir of this dam. This dam project was started in 1949 and was finally completed in 1955, having a total catchment area of 145 sq. km. The dam has a capacity of around 8000 sq. m of water, which provides drinking water to Palakkad.

Tourists can visit the Rope Way, Snake Park, Malampuzha Gardens, Rock Garden and the aquarium. There is also an amusement park, known as Fantasy Park, around 1.5 km from the Malampuzha Dam.

Fantastic Construction

Someone must see this dam, built with perfection. The scenic view is marvellous. Behind the dam surrounded by the mountains, nobody can see this kind of view any where in the world. And the forest is also very good.
