The famous Serpent God Temple at Mannarasala

We visited Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple during our visit to Kerala and it is at a distance of 2 km from Haripad and 30 km from Alleppey city. The famous Ambalappuzha Sree Krishnaswamy temple is 19 km from here. Ambience of the temple is very divine and the atmosphere is cool as the place is covered with many tall trees of different varieties. Nagaraja is the main idol and accompanied by Naga Yakshi and Sarpa Yakshi in this temple. The uniqueness of this temple is that the rituals are performed by the eldest lady of the priest family and she is respectfully called as. We had her darshan and blessings from her room. We visited the Sarpakavu which is a bit far from the temple but inside the premises itself. En-route to the Kavu both the sides are full of tall and thick trees which are carefully preserved by the management. Trees are never cut and it is said that serpents are all over the forest area to guard the temple and devotees. Large fire is not lit inside the temple to avoid smoke which will harm the inhabitant reptiles. It gives a freshness to mind after completing the temple visit. Small shops are available for refreshments near the temple.

Beautiful temple located in a thick forest environment

Worth seeing temple, if you believe in the Nagaraja family. Speciality is that this temple helps clear all problems associated with sins related to snakes etc. The location is very calm, serene and feel of freshness is good because of the trees and the location.Need to be in traditional attire to visit. Though there is no fee for darshan though some special poojas which you perform based on your birth star or your astrological requirements require you to pay.Darshan for Nagaraja Amma who is the prime in this temple and is considered too sacred to get her blessings and a chat with her to resolve your issues is free, but is limited to few per day on first come first served basis.Excellent place to visit.

Divine serenity

This age old temple dedicated to Nagaraja & Sarpa Yakshi is tucked away in the small town of Haripad. The place around the sanctum is maintained at its pristine best. Very calm and peaceful. The information desk in front of the temple is helpful in understanding the different poojas performed in the temple. After temple darshan, we were even guided to see Mannarasala Amma & take her blessings. Our visit was in the evening time and it was not crowded. We were able to spend a quality time in temple in its divine serenity. We heard that this temple is generally crowded in morning times especially on public holidays and weekends. Must visit temple if you are planning for a pilgrimage around Alleppey.

Not miss the Prasada

Worth going to a nice place, photography allowed outside the temple but not inside. Once you enter, you will get spirituality and you should not miss the mannarasala prasadam. It will be same like sabarimala prasadam; the temple was so powerful according to the localities.
