Hotel Megapode Nest, offered through a government undertaking, is a value for money. Initially, I was a bit reluctant to book this hotel thinking that it won't be a good experience as it is run by government undertaking, however, it was more than a good stay. Hotel is peaceful and the rooms are quite spacious, maintained with clean attached bathroom. The food is tasty, and one time main course was included in the cost The hotel offers a panoramic view of the Port Blair sea, very near to jetty and on a mini-hill top. The morning and evening time offers a beautiful sea view and surroundings of the hotel is lush green. Sit and relax in the chairs at the entrance of the room, if you are lucky to occupy the bamboo rooms / rooms towards the end of the corridors The front desk is quite helpful, but the travel desk charges the premium. Need your own vehicle to reach the hotel or hire an auto/taxi. Not much of activities at hotel available. Don't forget to switch on mosquito repellent, it a must.
The best hotel you can come across if your reason for visit is a romantic holiday in Andaman as the view that they have and boast is truly out of this world Amenities - They have a big place on top of a hill and hence is beautiful can have nice romantic walks with your partner apart from that they have WiFi connection in the reception area, no pool or other amenities Top class in terms of service, they are a part of ANDIICO and hence service is given a lot of preference, from the reception to the restaurant right till checkout everyone was very helpful and ready to help in the best possible way My advice to travellers would be if you are visiting Andamans for honeymoon, do not miss the Bamboo cottage stay at this hotel as your first experience at Andamans as the view and the entire experience is breathtaking, no other hotel in Port Blair can match up to the beauty of the location that this hotel is gifted with. It's the best experience and memory your partner will have of the place, choose the bamboo cottage rather than the standard rooms or Nicobari style cottages as they provide the best experience I would directly book with the hotel rather than going through a tour operator as can get better rates for the stay rather than the other way.
When booked, a little hesitant to go but once landed, I was happy with the location. It is a Govt owned and administered hotel. It was good because of its location and the way it was built. One of the favorite destination for many locals and tourists as well. Good food and variety of drinks. Conventional construction - cottage style.
Megapode is good place to stay in Port Blair and have nice view and surrounding with very nice furnished rooms. Food is not that good though, that's my personal taste though. Good and quick service is available and offers activities like scuba diving, glass boat and trip to Ross and north bay island at a good price also.
It was an excellent destination. The location was very good. The appearance was good from externally and internally. The front office was also good. They made no delay in check-in and check-out. The staff of the hotel were good and helpful. The room was good, maintained with all amenities working properly. The wash room was good. Hot and cold water facility was provided. The room had a sea view. The food was good with reasonable charges. There were activities but I did not avail that. I was happy with the room allotted. It was a relaxation trip with family and friends.

Sight trip was arranged on own. It was a personal trip along with family.
We were staying in Port Blair for two days before sailing to Havelock and I chose this place since it had good reviews. The hotel is beautifully laid out on the side of a hill. So each room block and each cottage is at a different level, cozily nestled against the hillside, under a canopy of huge and old wood trees. The trees are something to marvel at. They seem to be a hundred years old and literally touching the sky. There is a space called the Deck, just outside the conference room offering a grand view of the harbour, Phoenix jetty and North Bay Island (the same view as depicted on the Rs. 20 note). The water shimmers in the sunlight and takes on multiple hues We stayed in one of the non-deluxe rooms. But the room was spacious, walloped and comfortable. Each room has a portico of sorts which is ideal for moon watching or chatting with friends Food at the restaurant is good. Going by the Island's price standards, the rates are okay The location is a bit off the regular road. So getting an Auto or Bus to go to the market or anything is difficult. You have to get them to book you a Taxi in case you have planned trips. They have a travel desk run by Green Ocean Travels. Convenient if you are taking their ferry to Havelock, but they wont book the Govt. Ferry for you. They also arrange for taxis Only one bad incident that caused a small panic attack during our stay. We had to take the Havelock ferry at 6 am and had asked the travel desk to book us a taxi (The ferry is just about one km away, but the taxi ride is a minimum Rs. 200). At the appointed time, there was no taxi. The lady from the travel agency herself had not come on duty yet and the phone numbers were not connecting (common problem on these Islands). The guy at the reception flatly refused to do anything. He said he would not speak to the travel agency, we had to do it. Their numbers were not reachable. He would not arrange another taxi by himself and there was very little chance of getting a rickshaw at that hour. Luckily another taxi had come to drop some other guests at the Airport and that taxi driver dropped us off at the ferry for the same Rs. 200 However, when we came back from Havelock, I met the travel desk lady and the man at the reception who seems to be a senior staff. The lady profusely apologized and said they have put up more contact numbers and refunded my money. The man at the reception apologized and said they would look into it. Don't know what measures they have taken.
I went for a three day trip to the capital of the Andaman and it became an unforgettable experience! The place is just mesmerizing and you really don't feel like going away from there. Port Blair is really blessed with spellbinding beauty. But what really added a silver lining to my visit was our hotel. The Megapode Resort, which literally means 'big feet' justifies its name as the resort is VERY big and spreads over quite a big area. It actually doesn't feel like a hotel there as the Green colour overwhelms the resort and you actually feel like you're walking in the garden and fresh breeze is ruffling you hair! The hotel may cost you a little more but at the end you will not regret it. The rooms are quite spacious with the perfect furniture and bright interiors. With everything from bed sheets to electric kettle provided by the hotel, you don't feel anything lacking. The room service is also efficient. The food is delicious and the cook doesn't keep your tummy waiting. The best part is the garden restaurant which offers a spectacular view of the ocean and the harbour. It is a very beautiful sight at night with all the lights glittering of the island. It is the perfect destination for a relaxation trip
A beautiful government backed resort on a superb location. Situated on a hillock on the edge of the island has panoramic views of the ocean. The rooms are well placed neat and clean with good standards. Don't expect too much on the service and facilities front. The former is at best decent as is the food. Facilities are almost non-existent. Despite these shortcomings for the quality of the rooms, their location, amazing views and the fact that a visit to the island is for peace and tranquility. Its definitely value for money and highly recommended.
