The Resort has great location with Nicobari Deluxe Cottage having the best views, specially the view of the bay from the bathtub as well. The room is spacious and well furnished though the intercom was not working and it was not repaired even after complaint. It meant that one had to walk all the way to restaurant to order anything.
Hotel location is good. Room was good but the bathroom was too small. Breakfast buffet had just 2 options for Veg. They could consider adding more variety. Since the hotel is off main road, the reception guys need to be equipped to help visitors organise a cab or Rick that I found missing.
We had chosen Andaman Islands as our yearly vacation destination for this year and I have ended up with utter disappointment and disgust with what happened with me at my Port Blair Hotel booking with this scaled hotel "Megapode" We had booked their scaled "Bamboo Cottage" through MMT, going by their reviews, their assurance and all. When we reached there, we were shown to our accommodation which is down below after climbing down so many stairs but that is okay because you expect to have a good sea view. As soon as we entered, a sharp stinking small of phenyl mixed with dampness greeted us. It grew stronger and stronger as their guy left us alone after dropping our bags. What was expected to be a bamboo cottage turned out to be smelling shit hole like a third-rate bus stand Toilet I opened up bathroom door and was greeted by flies and a bunch of phenyl balls thrown near the water outlet. Obviously they had tried hard to kill a very overpowering and stinking smell by throwing those phenyl balls but they failed miserably in doing so .! The bathroom gave a bad look .! I have posted pictures and you can see for yourself .! The smell was good enough for anyone to faint with suffocation After paying an amount of Rs. 16, 000/- or so for a three night stay, when you are given this, you are bound to go mad .! I called them instantly and asked to be shifted to somewhere else. They showed me a similar cottage right next door but it had the same stinking smell. Probably worst .! I then called MMT. They were fast enough and came up with a resolution in less than 30 minutes. I was then shifted to their deluxe room which seemed to be newly built, clean bathroom and all. I was told that its cost was a bit lower than the Bamboo Cottage and that the price difference would be adjusted in my food bill. I don't want to go into those details and dispute because its still ongoing. Like I said before, my purpose of leaving this review is to save all fellow travellers from booking this Hotel Please note that this one is a Government undertaking resort and like with all other Government things in our country. There's that "Who Cares " kind of an attitude with people who are working here and are supposed to give you service .!! With the kind of location that this hotel has, if someone somewhere had cared enough for making this place better, things would have been different but I am sure, there would be that "Not Enough Funds" problem here too, like we have with all other Government things in our country
