Morinda Overview

Ranked 6 of 11 sightseeing in Rupnagar

Morinda is located at a distance of about 25 km from Rupnagar district headquarters. It is believed that the town got its name from Mor Jats. The location was also known by the name of Baganwala, owing to the existence of innumerable gardens of mango trees. Although many mango cultivators have abandoned the profession, residents still call it by the same name.

Morinda also had the foremost co-operative Sugar Mill. An ancient Gumbad dating back to the medieval period of Aurangzeb is the chief attraction of this town. Gurudwara Shahid Ganj is another place of religious significance in this town that was constructed in the memory of the two sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
