Moti Doongri Overview

Ranked 9 of 281 sightseeing in Jaipur

Moti Doongri is the famous Pearl Hill which resembles a pearl drop and is known for its temple and palace. Its architecture is similar to that of a castle in Scotland. The palace situated at this hill was once the residence of Sawai Man Singh II (1912-1970), who was the last ruler of Jaipur.

Later, the palace was residence of Jagat Singh, who was the youngest son of Sawai Man Singh II. This palace is not open for public as it is still the private property of the royal family. There is also a temple situated at the hilltop, which is open for all, regardless of their religion and social status. This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is situated near the Birla Mandir.

Like a dream castle

It is built on a hill. Looks like the castles we see in movies. Since it is a private property nobody is allowed to go inside the fort or palace. As the name suggests it is like pearls. One can look at it in all angles from the Ganesh and Birla temples at the foothill. After sunset it is lit with small concealed yellow lights. It is a dream castle with those lights.

Best place to offer worship to God, seek blessing and have wonderful prasadi

In india, Lord Ganesha is known for seeking his blessing before or initiating any new good things. That is why, this Lord ganesha Temple is famous in Jaipur & has been known to many. The visuals during Ganesha Chaturthi & devotion from people in order to offer worship & seek blessing from Lord Ganesha on the day makes one awestruck. Since childhood days, I have been going to offer worship to Lord ganesha & seek his blessings in everything I do. One feels blessed upon seeing him & offering prayers. The famous besan ka laddoo in his prasadi is something I crave for & haven't found anywhere.

Its Moti Dungri temple in Jaipur

The Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple was constructed by Seth Jai Ram Paludal in the early eighteenth century, and continues to be one the most popular tourist destinations in Jaipur. Situated in the heart of Jaipur, the Moti Dungri temple is perched on a small hill, and is surrounded by an exotic palace. In the recent past, the palace was home to Rajmata Gaytri Devi, but now, the palace is locked to public, with the temple being the only tourist location. The highlight of this place is the famous and auspicious temple of Lord Ganesha, which is frequently visited by the inhabitants of Jaipur, and other tourists from around the world. In modern times, it is said that thousands of devotees flock the temple on a daily basis and it is considered to be one of the most important religious structures in Jaipur. The temple is nestled by the beautiful palace, called the Moti Dungri palace, which is an imitation of a popular Scottish castle.
