Naneghat - One with the nature and loads of fun

So our original plan was for stargazing but it was cloudy and we could only see the moon through telescope at night but instead next day morning was filled with some amazing fun activities - Slept in a tent, Hand picked and ate Mangoes, Jamun, Karwand (Local Fruit), Jackfruit and many other new fruits. Played with dogs, cats, rabbits, chicken. Enjoyed Sunset from the top of the nearby cliff. Saw golden colored tail of the giant Indian squirrel and did a lot of comedy on the whole trip. Overall the trip was amazing and had loads of fun. Its an awesome weekend getaway from Mumbai.

Must trek!

Best time to go Naneghat is monsoon. It's one of the best places where I have trekked. It is around 120 Km from Bombay. To have a safe and awesome trip we left at 7 from Mumbai. We got down at Thane and took a state transport bus which leaves just from the nearby bus stop which took Rs. 60 to drop us to Naneghat at 10. It's not a prominent place, so one needs to be aware while going by public transport. A board is there at the entrance of Naneghat. The total journey was for 3.5 hours from the base to reach to the highest point. After we walked for 15-20 mins we got a waterfall on the way. We went along the waterfall for the next half an hour. It was one of the best experiences of the journey, one must spend some time travelling through this path. On the way we got a lot of crabs from which one need to be very aware. While we were going it wasn't raining. Just before the highest point there was cave where we stopped by. At the highest point we got some food. We had carried enough water cause there is not a single shop which we will get once we reach the base. It started raining when we reached the highest point. We started our journey back around 2.30 pm. It started raining heavily while we were in the mid of our journey. The flow of water was so high that it filled the complete path. It became impossible for us to go ahead. So we had to stop in midway. After 20 minutes when the rain slowed down we again started. This was another best experience which is a must have. The path was full of water and it was a fantastic experience to cover the remaining path with the path filled with water. We reached down by 6. There is no mode of transport to come back which plies from Naneghat. We stopped there and got a private bus which gave us lift till Thane. Please carry enough food which is light to carry and water for the day.
