The heaven of bird lovers

It is a small but beautiful village with a lot of surprises. Pangot is near about 15 km from Nainital. If you love bird watching, it will be a perfect destination for you. Rent a car from Nainital to reach this place. The best time to go around this place at dawn as all birds come out from their nest in search of food and water in this time. You will find that 580 species of bird are ready to welcome you. Rufous bellied woodpecker, khalij pheasant, thrush and other Himalayan bird species are found in "kilbury forest" a bird view point of pangot. While exploring the wood on foot it might be a chance to discover a leopard on the top of a tree staring at you with stirring tail. It is my personal opinion to all visitors not to forget to carry a binocular with them.

Panoramic view, ideal destination

Pangot is what one can categorize as heaven on earth, an idyllic destination. Pangot is actually one of those remaining untouched spots of natural beauty. Ideal for bird watching early morning. There are some good resorts in this area. As the place is so remote, the costs are a bit high. One can view the majestic panoramic view from Pangot.
