A very old temple of Narasimha Swamy

I and my wife visited this temple on 19-02-2016. The temple located on top of Mangalagiri Hill is open during the day from 06. 00 to 17. 00 hrs. There is a motorable road available to reach the temple. Also there are the traditional steps leading to the temple. There is another temple of the same deity at the foot of the hill which is open from 06. 00 to 12. 00 and 17. 00 to 20. 00 hrs. One should plan properly to be able to visit both the temples. The temple has a special feature: Devotees offer jaggery (or unrefined sugar) water called panakam in Telugu, to the deity. A devotee may offer a vessel full of Panakam. (One should purchase a ticket of Rs. 50/= for Panakam, at the entrance of the temple. ) Panakam is given inside the temple. It is poured into the mouth of the deity in the sanctum sanctorum, by the priest. Half of it is accepted and the remaining half comes out. This is given as prasadam to the devotee after he comes out of the sanctum sanctorum. In spite of so much of jaggery water one cannot find even a single ant.At one level higher than the main deity's abode there is a temple of Sree Mahalakshmi. As is the practice in any temple one has to offer prayers not only to the main deity but, also to His / Her consort, as the case may be. So one should go a few steps over the main temple and offer prayers to Mahalakshmi. There is fee of Rs. 50/= for offering panakam. There is no fee for darshan. Details of the history and mythology of the temple may be obtained from relevant websites. It will be a good idea to check special and festival days of the temple before making a visit.

Nice religious place

Nice religious place, hilly scene, view is extraordinary and religious person can feel the impact. Puliothare prasadam in hill down temple is very nice. Carry a bottle to bring panagallu prasadam to the near and dear ones, if it is a day return.

Good facilities available around the temple

Panakala swamy is lord Vishnu, this temple is situated in mountain and availability of Auto and Cab facilities along with rooms in Dhuruva Sannidhi place and Vasavi Kanyaka parameshwari Kalyana Mandapam. According to history Panakala Swamy is taking panakam for saving the surrounding people of that mountain.

Powerful god

This is a special temple where Lakshmi Narasimha swamy drinks panakam and blesses you. The place is located on a hill and the view of Mangalagiri looks beautiful during early mornings.
