It was my long pending desire to spend few days in Goa with my spouse. M/s akbar holidays, travel agent through whom I booked hotel has advised me to stay at paradise village resort at Calangute beach Goa. We stayed there for 4 days from 18th nov to 21st nov 2015. The package included pick up from airport and dropping back at the railway station. The service was very prompt and the cab driver Mr. Mo hammed was friendly and helpful. The front office staff and attendees of the resort were inexperienced or very careless in dealing the guest, only one Mr. Savio, a front office staff was helpful and others not bothered to attend the guests during peek time. The resort is situated inside a vast area with lot of independent villas. I was given a suit. The front wall of the room is in dilapidated condition and there is no proper lights outside the room. The room is well furnished and is kept neat and clean. AC was in good working condition though old and there is all amenities as in a 3 star hotel. But the cable connection proved in the room is useless with poor quality and very few local channels are available. The bathroom is provided with only two soaps and a small bottle of shampoo. Resort has very good pool which was closed for maintenance, there is scope for recreation and ayurveda massages by experienced hands. The food served ( breakfast and dinner) are good and the waiters were giving excellent service. If we go to the beach through rear gate. It is difficult to find out the. Entrance of the resort when you return since there is no sign board and the entire beach is occupied by small huts which provide benches in the for rest. Over rating is good and the rate offered for the package is reasonable.
Location of the hotel was fantastic but service wise it was very poor. I travelled this place by flight. Staff was friendly there. Pickup and drop facility was available from airport. Parking space was available there and it was very big. Room was spacious, neat and clean. It was like a studio apartment. There was one bedroom, one drawing room also there. Small refrigerator, AC, tea or coffee maker, and other amenities were provided in the room. Look wise, it was a very old hotel. It was not that much maintained but it was fine. It was a beach property. Sightseeing trip was arranged on our own. Hotel was located nearby the Calangute beach. Swimming pool and gym was there. I took breakfast there. Taste and quality wise, food was fantastic. Buffet system was there. There was no problem in check in and check out procedure. Calangute beach as a destination is excellent. Appearance of the hotel was average. Check in and check out procedure was good. Overall services were bad. Room was good. The buffet breakfast was very good. Activities were average. Price wise, it was reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers. I went there with my friends and family both in February 2013 for roam around.
Overall, It was a good hotel. Location was the best part of this hotel. There was no problem to find out the hotel. It was located very far from Airport. It was around 45 to 50 minutes away. Beach was available in surroundings of the hotel. No shopping mall was there. Hotel's staff was okay-okay by nature. Appearance wise, hotel was okay from outside but from inside it was not that much good. Interior was very outdated there. Cleanliness was also not there. Bathroom was very dirty in the room. There was no problem in check-in and check-out time. Food was available there but we took food from outside. Restaurant was available on the Calangute Beach. Swimming pool and other activities were present there but we did not utilize them. Car was arranged by me for sightseeing. Booking was done through my friend. Room was okay-okay. No special view was available from there. It is a very huge property but they did not maintain it very well. TV, AC, geyser, and other normal amenities were provided in the room. They all were in working condition. They should take care of cleanliness and improve the interior. I stayed there for three days with friends one year before. Goa is a very good place and value for money. I have gone there many times. Garden was nice there.
An almost embarrassing and insulting experience for my family and me. The Paradise Beach Village resort looked inviting from outside but I had plenty of unpleasant surprises in store once we were in During the wait of half hour we were given a welcome drink, then finally escorted to our suite (or we assumed it would Be. We had to wait because the room had been allocated to another family since we arrived late (from Pune). So they were waiting for that family to move out. We could have been allotted another room rather than the inconvenience of waiting in the Goan humidity after an overnight drive from Pune At first glance, the resort looked inviting with the path typical of the Goan red mud leading into the resort, the white villas and shady trees adorning the path on either side; that is till we looked at where we were about to be accommodated. The blast of the heat (in addition to the already typical Goan summer heat) from the exhaust of the air conditioner in the sit out was a grim reality of the worse to come Unattended scattered garbage with broken pots filled with soiled water dotted the garden of the villas. We had booked two suites and the one on the ground floor appeared to have once been servant quarters. The pantry had been locked because it had been converted into a store room! And then we noticed that the water seeping out along the floor of that locked pantry into the drawing room and it was a considerable amount of time before they finally sent the housekeeping team to do the honours of cleaning the mess The restaurant food was average but the service left much to be desired. The serving boys were polite, however unsmiling. It was no different during our entire stay and the supposedly complimentary breakfast was a teaser. The milk for the cornflakes, thinned down to consistency of water and translucent A private party that had been organized at The Ship bar. The Friday evening of our stay at this resort was a sore experience and a curse to the ears of the resort residents, thanks to the poor choice of music and songs to the likes of "Sheila Ki Jawaani" shattering the peace and a weekend evening while the drunk party revelers chose to strip to the waist, compare their jiggling midriffs and perform an undesired full monty, though thankfully, with their trousers on Came for an checkout time and the credit card machine was out of order !! Beat that! So I had to drive down to the nearest (yes, you will be deprived the convenience of an ATM where the resort is located) ATM to withdraw and clear the dues The only saving grace was the pool and the private exit to the beach. The pool was indeed large and spacious and there were lifeguards and security to keep a check on everything. I was pleased to see the security insist firmly that a few beer guzzling young adults follow the rules of the pool and refrain from drinking and eating while in the waters though sadly could not refrain a large family group who typically of their renowned lifestyle chose to device all possible ways to hoodwink the security and pass the khakras and phaphras that they brought along, amongst them.
The location is great being very near to Calangute Beach and the market place. Lot of restaurants around. The resort is in the form of small cottages with two floors. It has a good swimming pool and during tourist season its generally full. The staff wear colourful shirts and hats. They also have an ayurvedic massage centre although its quite expensive (probably targeted towards the foreigners who stay here in large numbers) and a beauty parlour (again shut in off season). Off season most of the facilities are not available including the buffet breakfast so that turns out to be a disappointment. Food is so and except for breakfast we don't dine here since we generally prefer to eat out. We have been to this resort two three times and we like it due to its proximity to Calangute. One can also get bikes on hire here which is very convenient. Free transfer from railway station to resort but no airport transfers. The rooms have basic amenities but that is it nothing more. Overall a pleasant stay. Not had any nasty surprises. Plenty of greenery and peaceful surroundings.
