Parasinikadavu temple

This temple is 14kms from Kannur town in a secluded area at bottom of a hill. The temple could be visited as usual like other Siva temples. The best thing to see here is the thaiyam art during deeparathana time which is excellent experience and photography prohibited. The Thaiyam based on unison of Siva and Vishnu which is a treat to watch.

Temple on the banks of Valapattanam River

Parassini Madappura Muthappan temple is on the banks of Valapattanam River and is about 20 Kms from Kannur. The Theyyam ritual performed in this temple is very colourful and popular. Theyyam is a ritual performed every day and is a traditional way of worshipping in the temple. Devotees visiting this temple first wash their feet in the river before entering the temple. To see the theyyam ritual one should reach early in the morning by 6. 30 am. It starts around 7 am and lasts for about 30/40 minutes. As in the case most popular temples the way to temple have many road side shops. The temple is open to all castes/religion. The parking of vehicle near the temple is really tough proposition. In this temple one can get tea, food and accommodation all free of cost. This is a must visit place for people visiting Kannur for sightseeing. Photography inside the temple is not allowed.
