Punyagiri Overview

Ranked 4 of 49 sightseeing in Vizianagaram

Punyagiri, located about 25 km from Vizianagaram, is a site of one of the oldest Shiva temples. One of the most unique features of this temple is the Shivalingam which is bathed by the underground water source. Close to the temple is a Trimurthi cave, which is enshrined by the three lingams over which the water constantly falls.

During Mahashivratri, this site is visited by a large numbers of devotees. According to a legend, if a devotee bathes in the nearby waterfall and after that goes for a darshan of Lord Shiva, Moksha is attained.

      Punyagiri is a devotional place

Very good, surprised and very devotional with that place. In that place Lord Shiva Temple is famous to visit in the month of November, December or January that is during Karthika Masam. In that month lot of people come and visit the temple especially on Monday. I have seen very beautiful waterfalls in that place.
