Good place not maintaining ..

Good place but not maintain by railway authorities. It is close to Mysore railway station. Must visit by rail lovers. We can see many meter gage train models and maharani saloon train is very much interesting. It was built on 18th century. Adults 15 and kids 10 Rs for entry fee.

Must visit place for train lovers

Had been to Mysore to just visit this place because my 5 year old son is a fan of steam engines. Neatly maintained though a small place. No much exhibits and information. I can say 20% of Delhi rail museum. Its located very closely to Mysore railway station. Train lovers must visit place.

Very nice - but draws few visitors!

A must for little children as well as adults; there is wonderful display of stately railway carriages, engines [many children would not even know about steam engines- this is a good place to see them]; signaling equipment, lanterns, photographs of rail bridges - oh! There is a wealth of information; mini rail is a fun for children; there are swings too.

Worth the visit

If you are a person who likes visiting museums, this is a must visit!!! Varieties of antique Trains and Railway mechanisms on display. Spent a good amount of time watching the old Train cabins. Since this is inside the city, easy to locate as well!

Nice display and worth a visit

Kids enjoyed their trip to the museum, got to enter the stationed wagons there and also there is a small play area and a toy train that kept for the interest of the kids. Worth a visit when in Mysore.

A trip down history, a tribute to Engineering

Visited the Museum with Family and it was 2 generations of nostalgia and excitement flowing out of our hearts! My dad and I have travelled across our country due to various reasons and everything that's on display in the museum brought back Golden memories. My dad remembered the days when those steam workhorses chugged across towns and villages and made long stops at stations en route for people to get on the platform, cook their lunches, dinners and then board back for move forward.Mom remembered travelling in passenger trains as a child and grandpa putting the kids on top of the luggage platform, so that they can escape the crowd below! For me? It was a trip down memory lane. I remembered travelling in steam powered train as a child from Lucknow to Shahjahanpur, my first experience standing in the loco pilot's cabin when a pilot bent a few rules to make a child (me) stop crying and tugging at his grandpa's hand just for a glimpse of a diesel locomotive, my first ride in toy train from Ooty to Aruvankadu! The information displayed in and around the museum is a revelation. The highlight is the Mysore Maharaja's carriage. The facilities, the detailing, the luxury, it shows what kind of a life our royalty lead in the past! More, importantly, it shows the engineering prowess of the bygone days.Worth the visit! The Railways must spend more on landscaping and cleanliness of the museum.

Nice place for kids

Nice experience for kids with lot of historical locomotives. If you know the history and have time to sit and look at their anatomy, this will be an excellent experience. There is a small train ride you can sit and relax.

A good master piece and attraction

A kind of a rail museum of our country where models and replicas of various old railway engines and carriages are showcased. A small room has been put to display where the carriage of Mysore Maharani is put for display, a masterpiece classic bogie. Toy train ride is another attraction here, truly enjoyable.
