Raj Babri Mosque

Raj Babri Mosque Overview

Ranked 87 of 681 sightseeing in Ahmedabad

Raj Babri Mosque was built in 15th century during the rule of King Ahmed Shah. It is popular among the tourists for its shaking minarets. This mosque originally had two shaking minarets, however during the British rule, one of the minaret was pulled down in the quest of learning its architecture and construction.

Today, this mosque is left with one minaret only, which vibrates distinctly. This minaret stands 40 ft high, with the base tapering towards the top. The minaret features carved balconies and windows along with a narrow staircase from inside. From the top of this minaret, visitors can view the surroundings. However, from past few years the access to the stairs is prohibited.

Located towards the south-east of the railway station in the suburb of Gomtipur, this mosque can be reached using AMTS bus and taxis.
