Ram Ghat Overview

Ranked 2 of 22 sightseeing in Chitrakoot

Ram Ghat is a long stretch of steps made on the bank of Mandakini River. Tourists can see many holy men, dressed in saffron cloth, meditating. People believe that the sacred Sarayu River surfaces from its underground source here and then again vanish.

It is believed that during exile, Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita took shelter here and appeared before poet Tulsidas. Tulsi Chabutra, a platform in the Ram Ghat, is believed to be a place where Tulsidas wrote the Ram Charit Manas.

Early in the morning tourists can see devotees standing waist deep in the flowing river to offer prayers. Tourists can attend the evening aarti, with sound of bells and chants echoing.

A place to be visited in the evening

This is a place which we have to visit at the evening to join the aarti of Mandakini River. This is the place where we can enjoy the boating and also we can take a holy bath in the river at Ram Ghat. The location of this place is awesome. Here we can feel as a spiritual.

Unimpressed experience

We had evening boat ride with a view of watching Arati which lasted few minutes only and was not worth the visit. Weather unfortunately was not conducive either as we were merrily bitten by mosquitos.

Ramghat

Ramghat is famous place for Hindus. There is the best sightseeing during the sunrise and sunset. Prayer of Ma Ganga held there daily morning and evening. It is a holy place of Hindus. Goswami Tulsidas wrote Ramayana at that place. There is a temple of Ram Janki and Tulsidas.
